I build partnerships and deliver results in complex public policy environments. I am an experienced executive with excellent fiscal analysis, project management, communications, data-based decision-making, and teambuilding skills. As the Director of the Ohio Office of Budget and Management — the Chief Financial Officer for the state — I manage a $100 billion annual budget on behalf of Ohio citizens. I steadied the state's financial portfolio during the tumultuous global pandemic and accompanying historic economic upheaval, balancing the books by living within our means, thus ensuring that the state is on strong financial footing for recovery and growth. As a result, the state of Ohio achieved a AAA General Obligation bond rating for the first time in more than four decades. I have designed new projects like the award-winning CyberOhio Initiative, built creative structures like the Center for the Future of Forensic Science, and implemented new statewide programs like the Ohio EdChoice Scholarship. I lead the team that achieved the largest municipal bond deal in 2020, named Bond Buyer's "Deal of the Year" in the midwest. As Chief Operating Officer for the Ohio Attorney General, I built a strong senior management team that experienced almost zero turnover in eight years. Together, we reduced bureaucracy by over 40 percent, rebuilt the entire agency IT infrastructure, and invested in the state crime lab, which reduced turn-around on DNA testing from 4 months to 22 days. We used Lean Six Sigma to cut red tape and streamline agency purchasing during our first 100 days. To achieve results, we focused on diversity in recruitment, retention, and employee engagement, and were recently recognized by Columbus Business First as an Outstanding Diverse Organization.
