Building classroom content for the Policy Education Program and outreach to high school and collegeteachers.

Currently teaching two year-long courses: AP U.S. Government and Politics and IB Theory of Knowledge I/Advanced Government. Previously taught AP U.S. Government and Politics in a semester course, Honors and College Preparatory American Government, Financial Literacy, and Comparative Economics.

Provide guidance and teaching ideas to new and experienced teachers and serve as a liaison between high school AP teachers and the College Board.

Present one-day workshops and week-long AP Summer Institutes, both online and in person, to help new and experienced teachers learn all aspects of teaching an AP U.S. Government and Politics course.

Work with students in the third year of their studies at Case that are considering a career in social studies education. Model and guide students as they begin learning the art of teaching in a classroom. Attend monthly meetings with students and content focused professors on campus.

Served as the Assistant to the Chief Reader (ACR) – responsible for any duties to help ensure the reliability, validity and completion of the AP Reading for U.S. Government and Politics (2016 – present). Served as a Question Leader and a Table Leader– applying adult training methods and conflict resolution skills to teach new and experienced readers how to interpret the rubric (2005 – 2015). Served as a reader for the Advanced Placement United States Government & Politics Exam and participated in discussions on appropriate assessments for the Advanced Placement Exam (2003 – 2005).

Contributing author for the First AP Edition of American Politics and Government Today. Authored internal textbook content to align the content of the college level textbook to the A.P. U.S. Government and Politics Curriculum and Exam Description (CED). Created the end-of-chapter content - the “AP Study Guide” for each chapter. Authored the AP Skills Handbook Guide at the beginning of the textbook. Authored the new Course-Planning and Pacing Guide to accompany the textbook. This included day-by-day guidance for teaching a year-long vs. semester-long course, sample AP-style questions, activities for each topic and additional resource suggestions.

Served as the Co-Chair of the Test Development Committee for the redesigned AP U.S. Government & Politics exam. Wrote and revised multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and free response questions (FRQs) for the exam

Served a member of the Course Audit Team creating Scoring Guidelines for the Course Audit for the redesigned AP U.S. Government and Politics curriculum.

Member of the Steering Committee to organize a higher education symposium where faculty from institutions of higher education attended to learn more about the AP program. Presented a session on the Electoral College including a short lecture and interactive simulation to the higher education faculty in attendance.

Served as a member of the Curriculum Development and Assessment Committee for the redesign of the AP U.S. Government & Politics course. Worked on aligning the assessment (AP Exam) to the Course and Exam Description (CED).

Served as a liaison between The College Board and high school teachers. Contributed lesson plans, for challenging areas of the curriculum, to the Online Teacher Community. Participated as a member of the Test Development Committee for the legacy version of the U.S. Government and Politics exam.

Responsible for five classes (student were primarily bilingual Ecuadorian students) including: U.S. History 10, I.B. Economics 11, I.B. Economics 12, and a team-taught I.B. Theory of Knowledge I.

Responsible for five classes of Social Science 9, including two classes for at-risk students and one class of honors. Teacher sponsor for the Class of 2002: organized dances, fundraising activities and Homecoming. Close Up Foundation Pac-Basin Teacher Coordinator and chaperone. Alumni Keynote Speaker at Graduation Honors Convocation and the National Honor Society Induction.

Responsible for implementing the non-partisan Close Up educational program and the needs of approximately 180 program participants. Instructor, Facilitator, and Tour guide for High School students visiting Washington, DC to learn about government first-hand. Returned to instruct during the 2001 Presidential Inauguration.
