After working as a Labor Delivery nurse in Obstetrics for 16 years, I have moved into a position as a Nurse Navigator for breast cancer patients. This was after completing my own 15 month treatment for triple positive invasive ductal carcinoma. Little did I know at the time that my personal experience was preparing me for my next role in nursing. I love what I do and have a renewed passion for the opportunities that I have to make a positive difference in my patient's experience. The role is diverse and affords unique challenges that I welcome. Improving efficiency in our timelines, increasing patient's understanding of their plan of care, and helping overcome barriers in their care are all a part of what I do. My favorite part though, is being an advocate to support and encourage them to make their own preferences and priorities known and to be an available and dependable resource throughout their journey. My life is enriched by the relationships I'm privileged to have with my patients during such a vulnerable time in their lives. God has richly blessed me through my own cancer journey. My hope is that I can also be a blessing to others on the same path.
