My current experience as a middle school Reading Specialist has well prepared me for school leadership. I work daily with at risk, struggling learners and strive to build the skills and confidence necessary for students to be successful in their classes. This takes knowledge, commitment, and love. In addition, I am a leader in the school and resource for teachers. I have run numerous professional development workshops and served on both school and district committees. I am a skilled curriculum designer, using the understanding by design model, a published author, a district trainer in strategic reading routines, and a National Board Certified teacher. Most importantly, I understand quality teaching and how to properly utilize effective instructional strategies.Each day, I work with at risk students to improve language arts skills and collaborate with colleagues across all content areas to improve literacy instruction within a middle school. These experiences will allow me to successfully guide the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum and instructional techniques for all teachers within your school.
