Throughout the school year, I represent Belden Hill fourth grade teachers in a leadership role. I plan and lead Instructional Effectiveness Team meetings where we collaborate in planning, curriculum work, professional development, and student data analysis. I work to support teachers in areas such as curriculum, assessment, staff development, and communication.

I work closely with students in one-on-one instruction, small groups, and whole class instruction to help students learn and develop their academic and social emotional skills. At Cider Mill, we use Teacher's College Reading and Writing workshop, Words Their Way, and inquiry based math approach. I incorporate Responsive Classroom strategies and Morning Meeting into my classroom to promote a safe and comfortable learning environment for students to take risks and learn from one another. Throughout the school year, I continuously participate in professional development to better reach the needs of all my students. I co-teach, plan, and collaborate with the special education teacher to create graphic organizers, modify assessments and homework, and locate and utilize other resources to help the students in the classroom.

At Kennelly Elementary School I was a Tier 2 Mathematics Interventionist Intern and worked on a Mathematics Grant Intern. I worked with students in grades 1, 3, and 4 who needed remedial and enrichment intervention within a small group setting. I collaborated and reflected with grade level teachers to provide students with lessons in order to improve their learning by getting them on grade level or challenging them in mathematics. I worked with teachers in grades 3-5 on the Bridging Practices Among Mathematics Educators Math Grant in order to support them through co-teaching, using a variety of graphic organizers and creating concrete examples of argumentation for students.

At Sweeney Elementary School I worked with students in whole group, small groups, and one-on-one instruction, in order to promote learning and address students’ needs. I instructed students through differentiation; incorporating techniques, such as modeling, scaffolding, visuals, and manipulatives in order to meet all students’ needs. I created engaging lesson plans for students, keeping them interested in the subject by using technology, projects, manipulatives, and games. I collaborated with another Kindergarten student teacher to create a unit plan and adjusted to best adhere the needs of my students. I actively participated and contributed information within data team meetings to differentiate reading groups across Kindergarten. I incorporated kinesthetic learning into a variety of lesson plans in particular addition and subtraction jump counting.
