“Does this make sense?”It's the number one question stuck leaders and overwhelmed innovators ask me. And the answer is always yes. And no. Because it may or may not make sense yet to YOU. And there are probably some things that could be improved. This is where I come in.From career-changers to change-makers, I’ve supported people from all over the globe to master their mindset, build their resilience and feel more confident, so that they can work through any challenge and can create the life and career they truly want. After spending over four decades overthinking absolutely everything, I’ve learned how to turn rumination into a deep thinking skill. I have become an expert in analyzing behavior and communication, with over 20 years of Design experience, a PhD in Sociolinguistics, and over 800 coaching hours as an Associate Certified Coach with the ICF.What that means is you get 3 experts in one:As a User Experience Researcher, I see things from other perspectives (such as the time-strapped hiring manager or the wary customer) and quickly spot what you can’t — your unique value and what’s not coming across clearly (and why).As a Business Consultant, I give you a doable plan of action that allows you to lean into what’s working while you fix what’s not.As a Transformational Coach, I help you remove any stumbling blocks along the way, so that you feel clear and confident while you put yourself out there. You get all three with the Sense Check™ — a quick and effective way to get real answers to whatever challenge you’re facing in your work. Feel proud and confident about what you do.To learn more and get insights right away, visit www.witten.kim

Transformational Coach, Business Consultant, And Experience DesignerKim Witten Coaching & Consulting Nov 2020 - PresentGlobalI envision a world where people are thinking critically and clearly. Where we're working within our “zone of genius” and making a huge impact in all that we do. As such, my Mission — the work to be done to make that Vision a reality — is to help overwhelmed creatives get out of their own way and get set for success. I work with people 1-on-1 to ensure they get their ideas heard and are reaching their high-impact potential.Wherever you are on that journey, I want to lift you up and enable you to achieve your best. For some people, we start with burnout recovery and working toward a more sustainable way of being. Others are well on their way to realizing their Vision and I help push them even further. And everyone else in between, we'll work on whatever it is that you need to move you and your business forward.Where are you currently and where might you like to get to? Let's have a chat and see what's possible. -
Customer Experience ManagerSage Apr 2019 - Jun 2021Manchester, United KingdomThis role was as much about stakeholder management as it was about customer engagement. It was listening and sharing in equal measures. I worked within and across teams, connecting pieces of a larger service design puzzle in order to bring a new and improved customer journey to an underserved segment. In more tangible terms, I led a research program to understand the state of finance in the UK non-profit sector, resulting in the redesign and relaunch of our product program, the publication of a whitepaper, the creation of a resource hub and the development of an online peer community. I was key in delivering all aspects of this while also regularly conducting workshops, facilitating meetings and presenting work to large and diverse audiences. -
Senior Ux DesignerSage Jan 2018 - Apr 2019Manchester, United KingdomAn idea was brewing. It would take a few more years before it was ready. The question that was forming then sounded something like this:”Since you're so fascinated with people and what motivates them to do things, what if you could cut all these products and services out of the equation and help them directly, with their own lives?”As I carried out my work at Sage, I gained valuable experiences toward an answer. I levelled up my listening, questioning, synthesizing, insight-gathering, communicating, and coaching skills. In terms of deliverables and outcomes, my work involved leading and executing customer research plans, coaching and mentoring other UX team members, providing UX guidance to product managers and influencing stakeholders to drive UX-led design. Through the creation of design solutions across Sage Products and Services, I helped define the vision of the end-to-end User Experience. This gave me the confidence and experience to develop that idea further and eventually to find answers to that brewing question. In a few years, I would leave Sage altogether and start my own business, helping people directly with their own life and design challenges. -
Ux ResearcherBytemark Limited Aug 2015 - Jan 2018Manchester, United KingdomLooking back on it now, this is the pivotal experience in my career path and why I became a coach. The me that was doing this role back then was barely coping with overwhelm and burnout. Struggling with lack of direction or focus — both externally and internally. My primary role at the time was UX Researcher. I was gaining a solid understanding of our customers’ wants and needs and advocating for them in design and development processes. I also took on the role of Product Owner in an emerging Agile/Scrum environment — maintaining the backlog and writing user stories. In addition, I was taking on all related Project Management responsibilities. It was three roles in one and although I was talented, driven, and productive, I wasn't a skilled juggler of plates and expectations.I see now that I needed someone to understand this and help me see it too. It was an untenable position and it was crushing me. I needed someone to listen, hear and understand what was needed, and help me figure out what to do about it.I became that person I needed back then. That's both how I know what it can be like and how I might help you if you are also struggling to manage your overwhelm, or with how to focus your efforts, and what exactly you're doing with your life. You don't have to create the life you want alone. If you're ready to recover and thrive, ask how coaching might help you.

Junior Web DeveloperBytemark Limited Sep 2013 - Aug 2015I made my start at Bytemark as a web developer and SQL data wrangler, but quickly found that code wasn't all it was cracked up to be. See the link below (the one with the rubber ducks) to hear how I self-talked my way through this particular challenge.Even though code ultimately wasn't my wheelhouse, I am proud of some of the work I did during that programming stint. I was working on the creation of apps, websites, internal reports and data visualizations and delivered an internal reporting website, a groundbreaking anonymous hiring application (see the Data-Driven Recruitment Story link below) and a server outage site.
