LLI ( Leveled Literacy Intervention) and Math support for 5th and 6th grade students. I work with individual or small groups of students on leveled reading focusing on components of fluency, vocabulary and comprehension. I also work with students on grade level math skills.

I work with students in grades Y5-fifth grade in the classroom as well as pull out individually and in small groups with Phonics, Reading, Writing, Language Arts, Bible, Math and Science. I create individualized lessons for students and utilize resources to support students with specific skills including: reading strategies, leveled reading books, letter naming and sounds, number recognition, manipulatives, educational games, fluency/digraphs/word families,vowel sounds and blends, sentence dictation, spelling, sight words, Haggarty Phonemic Awareness Training, flashcards, ELA, Bible Study Guide, Science, Social Studies and Math concepts. I also set up and monitor MAP testing, increase learning opportunities by giving students opportunities for practicing skills, help facilitate peer relationships, encourage peers to support, encourage or help a student, and volunteer in the library.

I worked with Y5-5th grade EL students in reading, writing, Language Arts and math skills at Quincy and Roosevelt Elementary Schools. I pulled students out of the classroom and worked with them individually and in small groups. I created individualized lesson plans and worked on specific skills including: reading strategies, leveled reading books, writing/reading and vocabulary exercises, worksheets, educational games and finishing classroom assignments. I also followed the lesson plans in the REACH text for reading and Language Arts skills and helped students complete supplemental exercises that accompanied the text. Lastly, I completed PAR ( Personal Activity Reports) for students on a daily basis.

I helped two first grade teachers with various tasks in the classroom. I assisted students with classwork such as: reading, writing, Social Studies, Math and projects. I also made copies and prepared teaching materials for teachers for lessons, monitored students during electronics time, worked with a special needs student with reading, writing and math skills, tested students for acquisition of numbers, letters and words, helping students complete classroom and specials assignments and helping students with minor social/emotional problems/issues and giving them the tools to solve them. This position was eliminated in December due to a student leaving the district.

I worked with Kindergarten, first and fourth grade students at Marquette Elementary in Muskegon, MI in LLI ( Leveled Literacy Intervention). I met with two groups of four students in each grade level four days a week working on components of leveled reading and vocabulary. I also worked with students in small groups in the classroom teaching various math skills. I helped students solve math problems using many different methods of instruction. I utilized resources including: a whiteboard, worksheets, manipulatives and games to help students' master grade-level concepts. As an Interventionist, I worked with children and school personnel in a role to help struggling students succeed.I worked with teachers concerning scheduling, use of instruction materials and students' progress.I also administered assessments several times a year to monitor students' academic progress.The assessments will help determine if the intervention group is helping the student increase grade-level reading and math skills.Teachers also used weekly test scores, observation, attendance and grades to help determine if intervention is enhancing student learning. Teachers review and analyze data from previous years and this may be used to graph or chart data of students who have not mastered skills. Teachers make a list of students in their class who haven't mastered reading, language and math skills and as an Interventionist, I will work with those specific students.I communicate daily with the classroom teachers about the instruction and the needs of the students.I have to adjust instruction if assessments indicate no progress was made on a specific skill or concept. It is also important to be able to effectively relate to children's specific needs, both academic and personal/social and be able to support and encourage them daily. Effective interventionists have a tremendous impact on students who are struggling and want to see students do well and succeed in school.

Starting in March and ending in May/June each year, I read and score students standardized tests. These tets are from Michigan and other states. I usually score the writing portion or the written Science portion of the test.
