About Kimberly Palmer

I've had the unique opportunity to be a part of online marketing for travel and hospitality for nearly 30 years, quite literally from the very first days of days of digital media. It started with educating industry veterans (and great mentors) on what this Internet thing was and why their destination needed a website. Since then, the technology and opportunities for marketers have become infinitely more sophisticated, and more effective. But the core principle has never changed - provide travelers with the information they need to dream and plan when, where and how they want it - and it will translate into revenue and enthusiastic customers. Over this time I have developed a broad range of travel and hospitality-specific expertise in online marketing strategy for destinations, particularly all things Google.

    Miles focused solely on Destination Marketing Organizations (DMO) until to 2008, when we launched the Miles Hospitality division. I was selected to help establish this division with two other team members. Together we have expanded our division and provided exceptional results to a growing list of resort clients.My role focuses on development and implementation of online marketing programs for resorts around the country, particularly four and five diamond independent properties. These strategies center on a holistic approach to organic search, paid search, display, social and email in which customer engagement with experiential content is central. -- Plan, implement and optimize paid search programs on Google and Bing with ROI consistently 2x above industry average. Hawks Cay Resort received a Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association (HSMAI) Adrian Award for Search Marketing.-- Research, plan and implement content-based Search Engine Optimization (SEO) programs that have dramatically increased the number of first-page search result rankings on targeted keywords.-- Plan and negotiate digital display campaigns through both ad networks and direct buys.-- Lead digital display ad design and landing page development and optimization for all campaigns.-- Provide recommendations and action plans on social media strategy and reputation management.-- Manage email marketing campaigns from both client-owned and purchased lists.-- Provide regular reporting to clients that pull from sources including web analytics, property reservation systems, call center tracking and advertising reporting/managing programs.-- Research and write proposals, create and participate in presentations to prospects.-- Write blog posts for Miles on pertinent industry topics.-- Write, create and deploy the Miles Hospitality Insights email newsletter.-- Serve as main point of contact for Miles’ relationship with BrightEdge, an enterprise SEO management tool.

This was an exciting and ever-changing job at the leading edge of an industry that was just beginning to emerge. -- Creation of some of the first websites in the industry for Destination Marketing Organizations (DMOs), the most noteworthy of which was VISIT FLORIDA, the official marketing organization for the State of Florida tourism.-- Development of the first online advertising opportunities for destination which allowed them to sell ads on their websites to industry members. Miles was wholly responsible for the ad sales, creation, delivery and reporting on these programs.-- Industry education on the emergence of websites and online marketing, including speaking at conferences and industry events for VISIT FLORIDA, Florida Restaurant & Lodging Association and Florida Attractions Association.
