Responsible for the supervision and development of cultural and heritage tourism initiatives of the state, representing both the Department of Tourism and the state in matters regarding cultural heritage tourism, and serving as Kentucky’s advocate on related issues.Represents the cultural heritage community at travel industry events; represent travel at cultural heritage events. Serves as an advocate and public speaker on behalf of cultural heritage tourism locally, regionally, statewide and nationally. Manages the cultural heritage elements of the Dept. of Travel & Tourism website. Develops program budgets for the cultural heritage tourism division. Works with all areas of the Department to create consistent marketing message. Designs and facilitates new cultural promotional programs. Acts as point person for cultural involvement in trade and press Fam tours. Departmental liaison for Civil War Sesquicentennial issues and initiatives.Works with organizations to develop plans for cultural heritage tourism projects. Works with other state agencies to develop partnership opportunities. Gathers and interprets industry and market research.

Responsible for conducting the daily operations of Winchester First, Inc., a non-profit organization, including administration of the Main Street and Renaissance Kentucky programs, interacting with local and state government entities, civic and business organizations, elected officials; advocacy on behalf of the downtown community and central business district, public relations, historic preservation, marketing and economic development. Participated in planning, organization, and establishment of priorities for economic development projects in accordance with the City’s priorities. Produced grant applications for economic opportunities such as CDBG funding, historic preservation grants, micro-enterprise grants and economic development grants. Assisted in developing materials to promote the City’s economic interests. Provided assistance in the marketing of small businesses. Wrote grant application resulting in the city of Winchester receiving a Phase II or Silver City designation in the governor’s Renaissance Kentucky Program. (A subsequent application, also written by me, allowed the City to receive a Gold City designation.) The designation permitted the city prioritized consideration in applications for project funding, and allowed them to receive other assistance in their endeavors to revitalize the downtown area. Successfully wrote/co-wrote grant applications resulting in the community’s receipt of more than $2 million in grant funds.

Responsible for managing all aspects of the non-profit agency's public transportation system, including development, budget and revenue oversight, and staff supervision. Hired, trained and supervised all transportation office staff. Developed, tracked and analyzed budgets and spending. Tracked contract revenue, developed transportation contracts with agencies, groups and individuals. Promoted the system through public speaking, marketing, news releases, and media contacts. Researched laws and regulations as they applied to transportation and personnel management. Monitored routes and driver performance to assure positive rider relations and maximum system efficiency. Created successful grant proposals, resulting in continued funding to support a one-half million dollar annual budget. Successfully implemented a new drug and alcohol testing program in 1996, requiring new employee policies and procedures to insure the safety of passengers, drivers and the general public. Successfully provided over 100,000 rides for a four-county transportation area.

Performed day-to-day management for the ACTION Student Community Services Project and CNCS Rural Youth Demonstration Project (Youth In ACTlON) and other programs as assigned. Recruited, trained and supervised student volunteer participants of ACTION project. Supervised activity meetings for elementary school children and directed volunteers in the planning, organization and implementation of educational and recreational activities. Supervised duties of Assistant Youth Services Manager. Prepared, monitored, and revised program budget as required. Sought community support for ACTION project. Prepared applications and proposals for continuation funding and sought grant funding to expand youth programming. Monitored completion of program goals and objectives and attended public meetings, communicated with funding sources, community leaders, and the public as needed. Prepared press releases, news articles, and publicity campaigns for Youth In ACTlON.
