About Kimberly Donaldson
I have been a registered nurse since 1993. I started my career in pediatric cardiac nursing that included pre- and post- transplant care. I have experience in adult med/surg, telemetry and pre- and post-kidney, liver and heart transplant care and home health. I have worked extensively as an in-house and contract Legal Nurse Consultant. The cases I have worked on have been primarily for the defense, but I have been involved with a few plaintiff cases as well. I have experience with medical malpractice defense (physician and hospital), toxic tort, products liability, premises liability and professional credentialing issues. I have also worked as a clinical nursing instructor for LPN and BSN students. In 2008, I received my MSN in Nursing Leadership & Management from The George Washington University.I have a passion and talent for reading and analyzing reams of medical research for my personal interest, but also as a part of my work as a Legal Nurse Consultant. I used this research to identify and hire the best experts for whatever case I was working on. As a part of my graduate studies I took courses in Clinical Research Administration, Epidemiology, Toxicology and Biostatistics. In my clinical practice I have monitored patients who were part of a clinical trial. My husband passed away from Ocular Melanoma in 2016. This is a very rare cancer with no established treatment to prevent a poor outcome. I saw the process of my husband being involved with experimental medications and protocols, and when he reached the end of life and was essentially out of options.I recently accepted a registered nurse position as an MSA (Medical Services Associate) for a worldwide biotechnology company focusing on R&D, manufacturing and distribution of human plasma based pharmaceuticals. The company has plasma donation centers across the United States and in several other countries, and is growing. Other arms of the company are located all over the world. There is tremendous potential to grow with the company and also relocate if that time comes.

Husband diagnosed with Ocular Melanoma and I was in End Stage Renal Disease. Had a kidney transplant in August of 2016 and my husband died in October of 2016. In addition to bereavement and physical recovery, I was faced with some complications and was on disability for a few years. This allowed me to heal and to focus on raising my son who was 13 when all of this started, and 15 when he lost his father. Going back to clinical nursing has been challenging due to having a suppressed immune system, especially when COVID was running rampant.
