I am a native Tennessean from the ever-growing city of Nashville, also known as Music City. I delight in being a tourist in my city as well as traveling around the world. I enjoy helping others by volunteering through service organizations and making monetary donations to life-changing groups such as the Tennessee Aquatic Project and Development Group, Inc. http://tennesseeaquaticproject.org/, and the Special Olympics. My educational history includes graduating from Tennessee State University with a Master's in Education and obtaining a bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy. My initial professional background is in healthcare as a registered respiratory therapist. I've worked with various patient populations, from acute-care infants to elderly patients in critical care. I love students and teaching and learning. I pursued a career in higher education, specifically at the community college level, where I served as a respiratory care clinical instructor and director of clinical education, eventually serving as the program director. I transitioned into a middle management role as the Dean of Health Sciences at Volunteer State Community College in 2021. Strategic highlights of my current position include assisting in expanding the Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program, initiating three cohorts of Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) dual enrollment students, hiring a solid group of high-achieving faculty and staff, and collaborating with directors with accreditation processes.I am a servant leader with high relator traits (CliftonStrengths). I believe we can work in harmony to support the mission of an institution. On the other hand, I am a good listener and mediator during times of strife.
