  • Expion
    Software Engineer
    Expion Jul 2012 - Jul 2013
Joining Expion was one of the best decisions of my life. When I joined, they were a scrappy startup, filling a social need many companies didn't yet realize existed. I watched this Social Media Management System (SMMS) become vital to a wide variety of enterprise clients. I feel fortunate that I got to be part of this.Expion's culture at this time was fast-paced with a ton of heart, a young startup facing the challenges many startups have. Where Expion differed was in its leadership. Leaders cared about employees and were committed to exploring and trying the processes that would best serve the company, employees, and clients.—The main project our team worked on was Expion's Business Intelligence (BI) product. This tool allowed users to visualize virtually any of their social media metrics on dashboards consisting of charts, graphs, trending metrics, tables, and more.Top Achievements in this position:• I changed the way users interacted with tables. Their data became more useful and more comprehensible. • Following this success, our product team found more ways to present data that offered users additional flexibility. I became responsible for creating non-tabular, more "social post"-like presentation options for our users to visualize their high-performing content and influential users. This design became the precursor to Expion's super popular "Stacks" product line.An important part of this product is that it allowed users to make informed decisions quickly when posting content. One celebrated example of this occurred during Super Bowl XLVII, when a sudden blackout hit the stadium. Expion set up a command center for Oreo during this event. This helped lead to Oreo posting their now-famous “You can still dunk in the dark” tweet, which led to much media follow-up.Technologies: JavaScript, jQuery, CSS3, Microsoft T-SQL, dynamic SQL, C# MVC.
