Born and raised in a Southeast KY holler lead by strong pioneering Appalachian folk, this kind vibin’ mountain woman is an Indiana farm land transplant. I’m a proud coal miner's daughter trying to beautify the world as a Visual Artist dedicated to the preservation of a legacy passed down to me of notable Artisans. My involvement in non-profit organizations such as The Kentucky Urban Rural Exchange (http://artoftherural.org/kentucky-rural-urban-exchange/) will always be a staple in my personal development. With the range of past experiences in commission based sales, management, small business hat wear’n, community development, etc. all mixed with down-home Southern hospitality, I have developed a great dynamic to confidently accommodate the needs of my clients and I would love to meet you!

Freelance ArtistKimberly Owsley Visual Arts Jan 2000 - PresentHindman, KyGrowing up in rural Appalachia, my forefathers, most notable Byrd Owsley, were basket/instrument makers at the Hindman Settlement School. Their work can be found in many international collections. Deeply committed to honoring the distinguished works of the “Owsley” artistic legacy, I pursued studio art instruction at Morehead State University and Eastern Kentucky University. My charcoal work captured best in show awards at regional exhibitions from age 16. Primarily creating in charcoal, my portraits evoke a deep emotional connectivity between the artist and subject, and thus the artist-subject-viewer. At first glance, any of these portraits could easily be mistaken for photography. The stark opposition of charcoal shading and value combine with an uncanny preciseness, resulting in evocative images of some of the past century’s most notable figures. I have also spent parts of my artistic endeavors painting fun colorful large-scale murals that can be seen in the halls of public schools and homes across the state of Kentucky. In 2007, I returned to my hometown of Hindman, Kentucky to work out of a home studio and to also provide leadership in community and public arts programming (my strength in private and public instruction). In 2013 I Co-hosted an Artist supported radio talk show at WMMT in Whitesburg, KY, "Art Matters" with working artist Lacy Hale. This active show is dedicated to providing its listeners with the unique opportunity to have an inside look at the life and work of its local artists. The shows are archived and can be requested here: http://www.wmmt.org/archive. I was also a 2014 founding participant in The Kentucky Urban Rural Exchange (http://www.kyrux.org/). I currently work in a home studio located in Greensburg, IN where I have begun a new body of charcoal work with goals of exhibiting new work in Fall/Winter 2018.*For inquires and project quotes, please email kimberly.owsley@gmail.com.

Marketing ManagerAdderley Restoration Company Mar 2017 - May 2018Greensburg, IndianaWHAT I DID...Take every aspect you know about marketing (content building, graphic design, social media presence, CRM programs, research, networking, cold calling, company website designing, more research, planning, measuring, scrapping plans, making new plans, company branding, blogging, the client experience, etc., etc., etc.) and cram it all into one 30 something artist girl from East Ky and you have what kept me busy at ARC. (whew, what a long sentence!) A big part of working in small business is learning new skills and wearing A LOT OF HATS and I loved it! Sound crazy? Probably, BUT, I was able to better serve our clients, vendors and sub contractors because I was able to truly understand the heart of the company and EXACTLY how it functioned. SPEAKING OF WEARING A LOT OF HATS...Here is a very simplified list in no particular order of other areas I was active in. - HR - Payroll Management- Administrative Assistant- Office Management- DASH Administrator- Project Document Management - G-suite Administrator- Business Plan Writing & Development - Certification Management -

Art Instructor TempKnott County Central High School Aug 2014 - Dec 2014Hindman, KyI LOVED this temporary instructor experience! I had typical high school Art Instructor responsibilities which included: - Instruction of art history and different art genres in a range of art styles - Lessons structured around concrete and abstract art concepts for students - Mentor-ship and ability to spot and cultivate creativity - Managing art supplies to each lesson - Advanced art instruction This was an incredible learning experience that reached beyond professional growth into personal development and insight into the human experience for the generations behind me.
