The primary focus of my work at Apogee is to connect with clients who benefit most from our environmental and cultural services with personalized support for projects! It is my time at Apogee that I truly experience the importance of cultivating sincere long-standing business relationships that lead to successful outcomes! It’s totally awesome!

Growing up in rural Appalachia, my forefathers, most notable Byrd Owsley, were basket/instrument makers at the Hindman Settlement School. Their work can be found in many international collections. Deeply committed to honoring the distinguished works of the “Owsley” artistic legacy, I pursued studio art instruction at Morehead State University and Eastern Kentucky University. My charcoal work captured best in show awards at regional exhibitions from age 16. Primarily creating in charcoal, my portraits evoke a deep emotional connectivity between the artist and subject, and thus the artist-subject-viewer. At first glance, any of these portraits could easily be mistaken for photography. The stark opposition of charcoal shading and value combine with an uncanny preciseness, resulting in evocative images of some of the past century’s most notable figures. I have also spent parts of my artistic endeavors painting fun colorful large-scale murals that can be seen in the halls of public schools and homes across the state of Kentucky. In 2007, I returned to my hometown of Hindman, Kentucky to work out of a home studio and to also provide leadership in community and public arts programming (my strength in private and public instruction). In 2013 I Co-hosted an Artist supported radio talk show at WMMT in Whitesburg, KY, "Art Matters" with working artist Lacy Hale. This active show is dedicated to providing its listeners with the unique opportunity to have an inside look at the life and work of its local artists. WHAT I DID...Take every aspect you know about marketing (content building, graphic design, social media presence, CRM programs, research, networking, cold calling, company website designing, more research, planning, measuring, scrapping plans, making new plans, company branding, blogging, the client experience, etc., etc., etc.) and cram it all into one 30 something artist girl from East Ky and you have what kept me busy at ARC. (whew, what a long sentence!) A big part of working in small business is learning new skills and wearing A LOT OF HATS and I loved it! Sound crazy? Probably, BUT, I was able to better serve our clients, vendors and sub contractors because I was able to truly understand the heart of the company and EXACTLY how it functioned. As the CSA I focused on providing clients with an exceptional banking experience by adhering to the “First Financial Bank Experience” with every transaction. When presenting financial solutions to meet the clients’ needs I was able to create a map to success with provided discovery tools. By active listening to people, doing the right thing, and striving to make a difference, I contributed to the First Financial Bank team by building long–lasting relationships.I was accountable for driving new client acquisition, retention and growth of client relationships, as well as growing non-interest income. I worked to build strong community alliances and integrate in the community of Greensburg, IN. I was responsible for adherence to all compliance and regulatory procedures. Including, but not limited to: BSA, Check 21, CIP, CRA, HMDA, Reg B, Reg D, Reg E, Reg CC, Truth in Savings, Privacy Compliance and the Patriot Act.

I LOVED this temporary instructor experience! I graduated with arts honors from this high school and it was a great opportunity to return inspirational art instruction that had been given to me. I had typical high school Art Instructor responsibilities which included: - Instruction of art history and different art genres in a range of art styles - Lessons structured around concrete and abstract art concepts for students - Mentor-ship and ability to spot and cultivate creativity - Managing art supplies to each lesson - Advanced art instruction This was an incredible learning experience that reached beyond professional growth into personal development and insight into the human experience for the generations behind me.

Here I was an Insurance professional with James Justice & Associates. I developed relationships in the community through care and consideration of my clients needs. I also prepared reports, maintained accurate records and, of course, helped to settle insurance claims. I took pride in helping Nationwide clients save money through client education, helping them in bundling policies and discovering through conversation how they could take advantage of available discounts. I always made sure to provide my clients with educational tools and resources available through Nationwide insurance and our agency as I understood the power of educating my clients which is key in building trust.

The Appalachian Artisan Center is a nonprofit 501(c)3 dedicated to building and strengthening an arts-based economic sector. This sector includes artists, craftspeople, musicians, storytellers and others that carry on the cultural traditions of the region. The Appalachian Artisan Center specialises in handmade arts and crafts from over 250 artists from 49 southern and eastern Kentucky counties.
