Hi my name is Kimberly! As an online English Tutor, I help children improve their English listening, speaking, reading and writing skills; inspiring them to be life-long learners in an interactive and encouraging online classroom atmosphere. I enjoy working one-on-one with students to focus on what they need the most to achieve their goals. A key part of my classes is to make sure children have fun and are engaged in their learning. I have a strong focus on phonics to encourage clear pronunciation and reading independence. Why me?I'm patient, encouraging and an excellent communicator: I've worked in-person with a mature-age student with a learning disability to help them read and delivered online ESL lessons to children for children as young as 3 years old. A 3-year-old student went from crying in front of the camera, to confidently asking their own questions about an illustration and writing letters and words on the screen. I love extending my older students' conversational English skills by diving into topics that interest them and spark their imagination.I'm a planner, ever-curious, on top of all things web and full of ideas: I love research, writing and developing projects, curriculum and lesson plans. As an ex-web designer and online marketer, I know my way around everything online with my eyes closed. As a child, I had a fantastic imagination and told great stories; now all grown-up, I've written, directed and produced several short films and have a BA in Professional Writing & Editing and a MA in Creative Media.I'm not just limited to words on paper or a screen—I'm also a doer, can think on my feet and get things done: I've managed my own business in the fast-paced field of web design and tackled hectic schedules in film production. It's kept me on my toes and refined my planning, business and project management skills, which are absolutely essential when managing projects and classes across multiple disciplines and time-zones.I have the drive and passion: I've been a tutor and mentor in many aspects of my life over the years. I entered the world of primary education along with my children and realised this was the place I was meant to be. I'm here because I want to help inspire, connect and share knowledge, so that children (not just mine) can grow into life-long learners and thrive.
