Licensed Mental Health Counselor

Greater Nashville Area, Tn

I moved to the greater Nashville area last year and accepted a clinical social work position within the outpatient behavioral health treatment program in the Full-Day Partial Hospitalization Mental Health Program at the TriStar Skyline Madison Campus. I worked with patients struggling with a broad range of mental health issues including, but not limited to, the following: anxiety, depression, trauma, bipolar disorder, and substance abuse. My goal was to empower patients to obtain and utilize the knowledge, skills and self-awareness needed to effectively cope with difficult life experiences. I worked as a member of the interdisciplinary team here to promote the emotional health and well being of patients. This position was an excellent fit for my skills and expertise, and I was provided to learn from the best licensed professional counselor that I have ever worked with in my entire career. My learning experience here was priceless.

Licensed Psychiatric Social Worker

Salem, Oregon

I worked as a Psychiatric Social Worker on Unit Tree 1 within the Archways Program at the Oregon State Hospital, a psychiatric hospital that inspires hope, promotes safety and supports recovery for all with a mission to provide therapeutic evidence-based, patient-centered treatment focusing on recovery and community reintegration, in a safe environment. The Archways Program is committed to working with patients and stakeholders to promote competency restoration, personal recovery and resiliency. I worked with patients who were sent by the court system after being determined to suffer from mental health issues deeming stabilization and evaluation. The patients are sent by a judge who believes they have a mental illness that make them unable to “aid and assist” in their legal defense. Before the patients can return to court and continue with their trial, they must show the judge that their mental illness is being treated. Specifically, the judge must see that they understand the court process, can make reasonable decisions in their case, and are able work with their attorney to participate in their legal defense. The patients receive mental health treatment while taking classes to learn more about the legal process. I worked on the interdisciplinary team as a social worker by helping the patients develop client-centered recovery plans for transition and discharge into the community. I met with them to remove barriers to discharge using my knowledge of skill building, group and individual therapy, housing resources, financial benefits, and other services to ultimately assist them in achieving their goals.
