Child & Adolescent Inpatient, Greater Binghamton Health Center

Worked with adolescents in the juvenile justice system at Finger Lakes Residential Center (OCFS Division of Juvenile Justice and Opportunities for Youth).

Provided individual and group psychotherapy, and assessment in an adult inpatient/state psych hospital setting, working on a multidisciplinary team. I worked primarily with diverse adult patients diagnosed with severe and chronic mental illness, and a forensic population. Many patients on the treatment unit had co-occurring serious physical health issues, and/or histories of complex trauma, substance use, and/or homelessness. Integrated CT-R, DBT, CBT, harm reduction, and relational/psychodynamic orientation.

Provided individual and group psychotherapy to incarcerated male adolescents in state custody (OCFS/DJJOY) in a maximum secure facility, utilizing primarily DBT and Seven Challenges substance use treatment approaches and extensive experience with PTSD/complex trauma, and in alignment with Sanctuary and NY Models. Conducted diagnostic assessments/cognitive testing and prepared assessment reports. JJIS system documentation.

Provided psychotherapy to adults, adolescents, and young adults, seniors, couples, and families at a client-centered NYS OMH-licensed outpatient clinic serving clients with Medicaid and private health insurances. Conducted initial assessments/diagnoses, created collaborative treatment plans, and kept ongoing notation in compliance with OMH standards for a caseload of approximately 80 clients. Special client populations included veterans, drug court and other court-mandated clients, clients with dual diagnoses, serious and persistent mental illness, chronic pain, and/or histories of complex trauma and suicidality. Proficient in TenEleven system.

Provided a broad range of clinical and outreach services to diverse SSU students including: diagnostic assessment and evaluation; brief, evidence-based individual and group psychotherapy; case management; regular drop-in crisis and emergency intervention; referrals to outside providers; workshops and other outreach activities; career mentoring; and consultative psychological services to members of the campus community for Fall 2017 semester. Supported students in issues pertaining to Disabled Student Services, Title IX, Crime Victims advocacy, Registrar, and accessing a higher level of care. A wellness & recovery focused, peer support based MHSA Innovation Project that utilizes hands-on healthy cooking and nutrition/food education in a group setting for Tenderloin supportive housing (SRO hotel) residents prescribed atypical antipsychotic medications. Participants receive cooking equipment, instruction and support - and connect with and explore the local sustainable food system: urban farms/community gardens, farmers markets, and other community sites and resources to increase accessibility to nourishing food. Group graduates move into stipended Peer Support Team positions - conducting community outreach, peer support & education around healthy eating, and advocating for food justice in the Tenderloin community in collaboration with Tenderloin Neighborhood Development (TNDC), Leah's Pantry, the A&PI Wellness Center, and the Tenderloin Healthy Corner Store Coalition/Food Justice Leaders. A project of TWUHC, housed in the TNDC Kelly Cullen Community.

Provided sliding scale Depth/Jungian-oriented psychotherapy for adult individuals and couples of the diverse San Francisco Bay Area. Extensive didactic training and supervision by Bay Area Jungian analysts over two year internship.

Created and facilitated a successful new MHSA Innovation Project for Tenderloin supportive housing residents prescribed atypical antipsychotic medication - to address metabolic illness through healthy cooking and food education and support. A partnership between Nextcourse and HUHC, housed at the Tenderloin Outpatient Clinic.

Provided hands-on cooking, nutrition, and food system education to urban high school students through the Mission High School Wellness Center. Supported youth peer-to-peer education, community events, and youth participant-led research.

Provided individual and group multicultural-relational-oriented psychotherapy to youth (elementary, middle, and high school boys) diagnosed with severe emotional and attention/learning disorders at a non-public school in SF's Bayview/Hunter's Point neighborhood. Utilized play therapy, art therapy, and sandtray. Collaborated with teachers and other school staff, including participation in IEP meetings. Provided therapy to some adolescent youth in a juvenile justice setting. Collaborated with family members and community service providers/referrals.

Provided outpatient therapy to diverse adult individuals of a community mental health clinic serving homeless or marginally housed patients in the SF Tenderloin, many dually-diagnosed and with complex trauma. Co-facilitated weekly therapy group: Working Through Depression With Art. Conducted clinic intakes and psychological assessments, diagnosis. Trained in the ANSA (Adult Needs and Strength Assesment) and AVATAR system, and MediCal billing. Case management as needed.

Agency capacity-building and provided staff training/support around suicide prevention and crisis intervention services at a multi-service youth agency serving homeless/street and at-risk youth (adolescents and young adults). Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) certification.

Provided outreach counseling and case management to homeless and at-risk youth on the downtown streets of Olympia, in the outlying rural areas, and in the CYS drop-in center. Facilitated several youth development youth-led projects, including a youth bike drop-in, a battle of the bands, and a holiday party.

Facilitated therapeutic recreational outings and weekend brunch cooking activity. First shelter for LGBTQQ homeless youth in SF.

Created and coordinated a volunteer program for a busy Beacon Community Center in a public middle school in the OMI/Excelsior neighborhood of SF. Organized community service projects and events.
