Studying how genetic factors can modify associations between environmental factors and lung function, and can contribute to the development of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).

This research included a methodological part assessing how area-aggregated self-assessments can overcome single source-bias in studies of green environments and health.[de Jong et al., Environmental Health, 2011]In the second part we assessed how the quality of the green neighborhood environment is associated with neigbhorhood satisfaction, physical activity level, and general health status.[de Jong et al., Health and Place, 2012]

Managua, Nicaragua

In this study I assisted in assessing prevalence and the role of occupational risk factors on snakebite accidents in Nicaragua, Central America. Working with local authorities and University of Managua. [Hansson et al., PLoS Negl Trop Dis, 2010]
