In the 4 years, that I worked as a Medical Technologist, I spent some time in a generalist position, which allowed me to rotate between the various Laboratory Medicine disciplines, until I settled into a position in the Chemistry department. One of my additional responsibilities included the education of interning Medical Technology students on the role of computers in the laboratory. At the time, The Chester County Hospital Laboratory did not have a computer system, but during my clinical internship I worked in a laboratory that was fully computerized. I knew that it was not long before my employer would be installing a computer system and I expressed interest to administration in being included on the initial assessment and ensuing implementation projects.
