Working independently since 1993, I have been creating distinctive illustrations, in a variety of media, for international clients in design, advertising, press and publishing. Many years of experience mean that I can absorb a text and thoughtfully translate it into an effective book/magazine cover or feature illustration. I'm happy to work in collaboration, to work with clients' requirements and I can always make a creative contribution to projects.In addition to translating supplied texts and briefs, I have created weekly editorial illustrations for national newspapers that were conceived, written and illustrated by myself. Lecturer (part-time) in Art College, at the University of Dundee. Specialising in Foundation Art & Design, thus assisting learners' transition to Higher Education. Personally tasked in overseeing and delivering the Illustration and Communication Design pathway, facilitating students' progression to degree-level specialisms.I am experienced in programme development, project delivery within the studio, lecture theatres and now online. I conduct assessment and feedback as well as providing pastoral care. I have frequently participated in the college's admissions process, reviewing entrance portfolios. Since 1995 I have been represented by Début Art who are amongst the world's preeminent agencies for illustrators, designers and animators. Based in London, they have offices around the world in order to liaise between major media clients and their host of trend-setting image-makers.

Illustration

Whilst represented by Shannon Associates, I produced many book cover illustrations for major publishers in New York and throughout North America. This included adult and youth fiction relating to historical and international themes plus poetry. Clients included Harper Collins, Farrar Strauss & Giroux, Random House, Scholastic, Hyperion, Little Brown and Houghton Mifflin.Many memorable projects were undertaken that included translation of manuscripts, concept development and artwork production that often, additionally, involved model casting, costume and photography.
