About Kim Haas

I began expressing an interest in different cultures during my first trip abroad – to Acapulco, Mexico - when I was eight years old. Traveling with my grandmother, an avid explorer, I was taught to count in Spanish by a friendly local. From that point on, I’ve been learning about cultures through my work in media, communications and training. My firm, Haas Media LLC, grew out of a love of languages and connecting with people from all over the world, along with my PBS Travel Series, called Afro-Latino Travels with Kim Haas.I have extensive experience in media and communications. I served as Director of Marketing for WWSI TV Telemundo in Philadelphia. I also served as an on- camera pledge host (English, Spanish and Italian) for WYBE TV in Philadelphia. I appeared in in numerous videos and commercials for companies such as Kohl’s, Time Warner Cable and Walgreens. I speak fluent Spanish, Italian and Portuguese. My undergraduate and graduate degrees are in Spanish. Haas Media is a multi-lingual, public involvement firm that offers services in a range of disciplines, for construction, transportation and infrastructure projects including:• Community outreach• Communications• Training• Translation servicesI enjoy working with a talented staff of individuals from around the world. The firm provides services in English, as well as a host of other languages including:• Cantonese• French Creole• Hmong• Italian• Mandarin Chinese• Portuguese• Russian• Spanish• UrduMy travels across the globe have given me a passion for Afro-Latino issues for over a decade. Afro-Latino Travels with Kim Haas is a radically different program from anything on TV today. Each half-hour episode captures the heart and soul of Afro-Latino culture throughout the Americas by taking an adventurous dive into the history, art, music, dance, cuisine education, sports, and environmental conservation that African descendants brought to Central and South America and the Caribbean. Along with my travel series, I am also the founder of losafrolatinos.com, a blog celebrating Afro-Latino culture.
