My name is Kimia Leilami and I was born in May 1999. As a resident of Shiraz, Iran, I can attest to its beauty and charm.After taking the National Universities Entrance Exam in 2016 I was faced with the decision of which academic path to pursue. After doing some reading and talking to some pre-meds, I've concluded that my early interest in nutrition is drawing me toward a career in the field. For me, the best present ever was when I graduated in the top one percent of my class and was admitted to a master's degree program without having to take any prerequisite exams. I also served as president of the nutrition science student association and participated in nearly every academic nutrition science program and committee during my four years of undergraduate study.During my master's program, I ranked first among my peers in terms of cumulative GPA, and I have received great experience as a clinical intern at numerous Shiraz teaching hospitals. The course of my education has afforded me the chance to write a number of scholarly pieces on nutrition and the many disorders that comprise metabolic syndrome. Since beverages are an often-overlooked yet crucial part of our diet, I decided to focus my thesis research on a unique healthy beverage index and its association with obesity.Overall, I am very interested in my field and I am still at the beginning stages of this journey.
