And-and = win-win. My first career was as a physical therapist. I worked in a rehabilitation centre – lots of hands-on work. My responsibilities were an inspiring combination of clinical practice, and teaching students and staff. I also created patient education, clinical teaching, and staff training material. I am curious by nature. When I worked as a physical therapist, I enthusiastically followed continuing education courses. Later, I pursued advanced degrees. During my first master’s degree, I discovered my love for writing research papers. My PhD experience confirmed that writing was my favourite part of doing research. Working as a researcher, I started missing working with my hands. Then, post-partum complications after my second child led me to become a full-time mother. During this period, I took some time to address my wish to work with my hands. I completed a course on body-oriented therapy for children and Shantala baby massage. I have now discovered the winning combination for me: medical writing and editing AND Shantala massage. To these roles, I bring my experiences as a physical therapist, researcher and mom-in-chief. My 20+ years of writing medical communications and research documents for various audiences serve me well as a medical writer/editor. My experience as a physical therapist and mother serve me well as a Shantala baby massage instructor. When I am not working, I enjoy volunteering at my children’s school and reading mysteries. I am yoga enthusiast. I like to cook healthy meals and bake cakes with real butter, sugar and eggs. And while our home still has a way to go, I am an enthusiastic practitioner of the Marie Kondo method of home organization. I'm open to networking and collaborations.
