Data + storytelling = magicIt is one thing to read a story describing a massive army that the main character is going up against. It is another to add data and create scale. Instead of a massive army, it is 50 trained ghouls and soldiers for every field hand or merchant standing by your main character.I could say that costs were skyrocketing in a particular department, but that wouldn’t mean much without the context of costs/budget YOY and how/why they were increasing.Data adds value and depth to any story, and data without a story doesn’t tell us much. I have found throughout my career that it is the combination of the data and the story that brings clients into the story and wanting to grow within it. It is what brings imaginary places to life and builds relationships. Data, storytelling, and curiosity have been the key to my successes - from learning and utilizing data visualization and cleaning to exceeding the sales budget YOY.
