I am proud to say I recently completed my 10th year teaching high school English Language Arts and remain deeply passionate about being part of the teaching profession. Teaching is not just a career for me—it’s a calling. It means striving for the best for all students, persevering through challenges, and believing wholeheartedly that the work we do as educators is an investment in the future. I take great joy in staying informed about the latest trends in educational technology and interactive learning resources. I also actively participate in professional development to continually strengthen my skills, ensuring I remain effective and informed in my content area and teaching practices.Before becoming a teacher, I served as an infantryman in the United States Army from 2001 to 2006, alongside many honorable service members. My time in the military included two deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. After experiencing the realities of war, I decided to follow a lifelong passion: becoming an English teacher. As I begin my 12th year of teaching in the 2024–2025 school year, I am confident that this was the right decision and one I have never regretted.Outside of teaching, I am a devoted husband and father of two amazing kids who are growing up far too quickly. My wife and I are passionate about encouraging our children to explore the natural world, especially as technology becomes more central to our daily lives. We spend our family time hiking, canoeing, kayaking, camping, and enjoying outdoor sports like archery, shooting, and foraging. In the summer of 2021, we began tent camping and set out to explore as many national parks as possible, traveling with just our 4Runner and staying at KOAs. Those adventures brought us to the stunning Pacific Northwest, where we fell in love with its beauty. We returned in the summer of 2022, venturing across the country to the East Coast. Finally, in 2023, we made the life-changing decision to move to Washington State—a place that truly feels like home.Teaching allows me to combine my passions for English, travel, and nature while inspiring students to reach their potential and contribute positively to their communities and the world. I approach each day with a commitment of mind, body, and heart, waking up excited to make a difference and going to sleep reflecting on how to do even more. It is an honor to play a role in shaping the future and to share in my students’ journeys of growth and discovery.
