The Wits Sports Council is a student body concerned with the decisions regarding the general administration and functioning of the clubs. One of the major aims of the WSC is to promote a variety of recreational and competitive sports and to encourage students and staff to participate in these activities on campus.The WSC is able to bring to the notice of the University Senate and Council, the views of the sports clubs on matters concerning sport on campus, particularly those pertaining to facilities and the sports policy of the University. Keeping open the lines of communication between sport clubs at Wits and other universities as well as provincial and national sporting bodies is a vital aspect of the working relationship between the WSC and Wits Sport. Regulating, supervising and controlling all activities of sports clubs falling under the jurisdiction of the University authorities is part of the daily routine followed by the WSC in conjunction with the Wits Sport staff. At present there are 29 affiliated members of the WSC.

To hold the SRC accountable to their constituency so as to safeguard the interests of all students.
