As President of the RRPF, my goal is to further advocate for awareness, research, treatments, and a cure for RRP, as well as advocate for HPV prevention. An especially urgent unmet need is in how we treat the pulmonary spread of the disease. HPV 6/11 are the primary HPV types found in RRP, and while typically benign, conversion to cancer does occur (especially in pulmonary patients). Currently, we have no FDA approved pharmaceutical treatments, and surgical intervention is the primary method of treatment, often resulting in 100's of OR interventions over a lifetime. The goal of a RRP Research Network is now a project undergoing construction. Ending the fragmented research and forming a focused action plan is the next goal. Join us! We can do this. The RRPF is a member of NORD, Global Genes, National HPV Roundtable, and a recipient of a Chan Zuckerberg Institute Rare As One grant. The RRPF is happy to act as an advisor for upcoming RRP/HPV studies/trials. #HPV #Gardasil #Merck #Genentech #HPVCancer #lungcancer #pediatriccancer #patientadvocacy #patientorganization #raredisease @merck @genentech
