Kim Kelly is an independent journalist, author, labor activist, and public speaker whose work on labor, politics, and culture has appeared in a number of publications, including the Washington Post, Esquire, the Guardian, the New York Times, the Baffler, the Nation, the Philadelphia Inquirer, GQ, Elle, the Appeal, the Columbia Journalism Review, Pitchfork, Bitch, New Labor Forum, Al Jazeera, Playboy, and Rolling Stone. She currently writes a column on labor and working class history called No CLASS for Teen Vogue, and is a correspondent for The Real News Network and Means TV. Previously, she was the heavy metal editor at Noisey, VICE’s music vertical, and served on the original Vice Union editorial organizing and bargaining committees. She was also on the organizing committee to unionize the company’s TV and production units, and on the bargaining committee for the editorial unit’s current contract. Prior to that, she was a freelance music journalist, worked in music PR as the founder and head publicist of independent music PR company, Catharsis PR, and spent years on the road as a touring merch professional for the likes of Saint Vitus, Orange Goblin, Corrosion of Conformity, and more. She grew up deep in the South Jersey Pine Barrens, and currently lives in Philadelphia.
