As the UK made preparations to leave the EU, BEIS needed a plan for communicating the impact of this change to businesses across the UK. Working with the Government Digital Services (GDS) Department I led the development of a digital platform to help businesses find the information they needed to understand the impacts of this change. Sadly left this role early to return to New Zealand due to terminal illness in my immediate family.

2017: Winner of the UK Public Sector Communications Awards - Internal and Change CommunicationsThe Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) was formed overnight following a snap UK Cabinet reshuffle, by merging the Department for Energy and Climate Change and the Department of Business and Innovation to create BEIS. I led the development and delivery of this complex change communications and engagement strategy, which affected more than 4000 staff throughout the UK (Wales, London, Birmingham, Abderdeen) and over 50 partnership organisations. A well thought out and executed communications programme that prioritised open, transparent and regular communication using a multitude of channels resulted in positive staff feedback and high levels of engagement, despite a complex and uncertain time. The success of this work was recognised nationally within the UK and awarded the UK Public Sector Communications Award for 2017 in the internal communications category.
