A number of years back, I decided to invest more of my time in the not for profit and charitable sector. What started with a desire to make a more significant contribution to the broader community has become a consuming undertaking. In order to facilitate this not for profit, social enterprise and community development work while serving on a number of boards that are important to me, I am no longer active in the start-up or management of third party ventures.

The Alberta School Boards Association governs the Supplemental Integrated Pension Plan (SiPP). The ASBA SiPP was launched on January 1, 2004 and is registered with Alberta Treasury Board and Finance and the Canada Revenue Agency. SiPP is sponsored by ASBA and participating school boards that choose to offer senior employees enhanced pension benefits.

ASEBP has been here for Alberta’s public education sector since 1968. From Benefits Provider to Health Organization, we are refining our approach in order to improve, maintain and protect our covered members’ overall wellness. We reinvest plan dollars in proactive health benefits and services, and focus on fostering healthy lifestyles and healthy workplaces through innovative offerings and partnerships. We are ASEBP.

Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools support inclusive communities that foster care and compassion of students, families and staff with a complete offering of learning opportunities delivered within the context of Catholic teachings and tradition. We focus on the education of the whole child, serving our now over 10,500 students in Central Alberta, to develop spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, socially and physically.

ACSTA - The Alberta Catholic School Trustees' Association, was created to celebrate, preserve, promote and enhance Catholic education. Catholic trustees in Alberta, Northwest Territories and the Yukon are committed to ensuring that ALL have access to a publicly funded Catholic education. ACSTA is committed to being a unified voice of spiritual and political leadership for publicly funded Catholic education at home and across the country.

A Division of BCC, TSS exists to exclusively serve the not for profit and charitable sector. If your organization has a budget to fund the work, TSS will still use specially rated fees for community organizations. If your organization does not have access to needed resources and requires assistance, we may also arrange to complete certain projects at no charge to the nonprofit or charity.

The Catholic Education Foundation creates and organizes development activities that fund faith-based initiatives, student projects and scholarships that augment our leading core education programs. Grounded in the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Foundation nurtures, promotes and supports Catholic education.

Our community-based Hospice provides compassionate end of life care in a home-like setting. We believe that it is a privilege to journey with the people we were created to serve as well as their loved ones.

CCCT is the first collaboration amongst all justice sector participants to develop and implement a vision for technology that enhances access to justice in Canada. I served on the board with my justice system colleagues as a representative of the ‘public’. The Centre has since merged with the Canadian Forum on Civil Justice.

The Foundation is a growing capital fund, the earnings from which are used to meet the whole and wide range of local charitable needs and interests. I was proud to serve on the board that launched the Women of Excellence Celebrations in our community.

The Community Legal Clinic Foundation provides legal assistance and advice to persons from the lower wealth sector and to persons unable to access justice on their own due to cultural differences, literacy or disability. In the early years, due to staff and funding constraints, I helped develop fund development plans and undertook hands-on grant application submissions. Thanks to the generous support of the local Central Alberta Bar Society and the broader community, the Clinic has markedly expanded its capacity to serve clientele. Today, the Clinic has extended its reach and provides access to justice and legal services to clients in need from many other jurisdictions in the province.
