In 2014, I completed the UW's Environmental Policy and Regulation certificate program where my concentration was public lands management regarding marbled murrelet habitat and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and the Wilderness Act. For my final practicum, I submitted a comment letter on Olympic National Park's Draft Environmental Impact Statement on their Wilderness Stewardship Plan on behalf of Washington Trust for Historic Preservation. I researched the history of the legislative Wilderness Act of 1964, the history of human interests in wilderness protection, as well as the history of the National Parks Service, Olympic National Park, the Olympic Wilderness Area - the historic resources within the wilderness area (attachment below).In 2013, along with colleagues from The Mountaineers and Washington Trails Association, and with help from Snohomish County and the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest (MBS) I created and presented at a workshop giving basic education to the public about the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and the policies of the Northwest Forest Plan that support NEPA. In 2011, I obtained my certificate in Wetland Science and Management at the University of Washington, and continue personal research about wetlands and their important to the environment.I have written blogs for The Mountaineers, highlighting environmental considerations for the repair of the Suiattle River Road , and detailing the building of a bridge over the Suiattle River, federally designated as Wild & Scenic.I'm honored to have 2 signed copies of ex USDA Forest Service Chief Jack Ward Thomas's journals. I once shook the hand of a Snoqualmie tribal chief, and I have met Rowland Tabor, USGS guru. I was proud to be Smokey Bear at Darrington Day, 2014. Summer, 2014, I am a volunteer back country wilderness ranger for Mt. Baker Snoqualmie National Forest.
