Kim Schneider Malek, the 2014 recipient of the Family Firm Institute’s Barbara Hollander Award for sustainable leadership and educational contribution to the field of family enterprise, is the founder of Family Enterprise Alliance, LLC and the Center for Advancing Family Enterprise.Kim currently serves on the faculty at the University of Louisville College of Business teaching MBA courses on enterprising family dynamics. She previously taught for 20-years as a professor of the practice and adjunct at the University of Denver Daniels College of Business in the MBA, executive MBA, graduate, and undergraduate programs (teaching courses on family enterprise, high performance leadership, and interpersonal business and organizational communication).Since 1997, Kim, a second-generation family business consultant, develops an alliance between family and enterprise for prosperity and flourishing in all. Kim’s consulting, facilitation, and coaching practices focus on ownership education, succession, board/family governance, next-generation leadership, culture transformation, family/group dynamics, interpersonal communication, legitimacy, and education. Serving clients and students from over 50 countries, she has committed the past 35-years to technology-based delivery of content and experiences.Kim, a former member of the Family Business Directors Alliance, served as the Covid-stage director for the launch of the Bailey Program for Family Enterprise.A co-founding editor of the online Practitioner publication, Kim is recognized as a Family Firm Institute Fellow. Formerly a member of the Research Applied Board of the academic journal the Family Business Review, Kim also served for over a decade on FFI's Body of Knowledge governing committee and the faculty of the Global Education Network, a source of interdisciplinary certificate programs for all practitioners. Kim has been a lecturer and keynote speaker for several professional associations including Family Office Exchange, Family Office Council, Family Enterprise Exchange, EO, YPO, Vistage, UK Institute for Family Business, and Estate Planning Council.Kim’s other professional affiliations include collaborative learning exchanges (the Advanced Practitioners Study Group, Psychosocial Dynamics of Family and Business, and Collaboration for Family Flourishing).
