Topics included are: myths and realities surrounding breast and ovarian cancer, how to recognize changes in your body and how to advocate for yourself with your health care provider.

Organized and coordinated the Lymphedema Extravaganza for 2 years. Approx 200 attendees, 20 vendors and 5-10 speakers. Created fliers, contacted and confirmed vendors/sponsors, contacted and made arrangements for all speakers. Worked with hospital to coordinate room use. Arranged food and beverages for the day. Coordinated volunteers to help with planning and day of assistance.Breast Cancer Financial NavigatorAssisted newly diagnosed women with breast cancer to access funds from the Susan G. Komen for a Cure Patient Assistance funds which Cancer Lifeline manages. Also got women enrolled in the State Medicaid program through the Washington State Breast & Cervical Cancer Program. Involved interviewing women to complete application, obtaining their proof of citizenship papers and pathology reports from various hospitals. Worked with Prime Contractors in Western Washington to enable enrollment to go easily and effortlessly.Native American ProgramWork with tribes in Washington State to increase awareness of cancer within their communities and to help establish a means by which to talk about cancer. This has been done by providing 'education teas' and working on a Journey Quilt with each tribe. Helped plan and implement the Annual Community Health Representative Wheel of Hope conference. Including finding a location to host the event, making all arrangements and contracts with that location, designing and sending out Save the Date cards and invitations. Assist in locating and confirming speakers and making arrangements for them. Worked the entire event, including presenting, greeter, troubleshooter and shuttle driver!

Provided outreach and education to women, businesses and organizations in the Puget Sound Area. Grant Committee member for several years. Speakers Bureau member/speaker. Race Intern/Coordinator for the 2004 Race for the Cure. Participated on several committees working with diverse populations to increase breast cancer awareness in our underserved communities.

Worked as an outreach coordinator for a Komen Grant providing outreach and screenings in Snohomish, Skagit, Island, Whatcom and San Juan Counties. Coordinated all aspects of rural screenings, promotion, scheduling, physician and facility relations and day of assistance. Case Management for Washington State Breast and Cervical Health Program. Followed on average 90 women through their treatment for breast or cervical cancer. Assisted them in accessing community resources to help ease the burden of non-cancer related concerns.

Own and operate a breast health awareness business from my home.Manage all aspects of running a small business from home. Hiring of independent contractors, supply ordering, inventory and distribution and filling orders.Contract work with local breast cancer organizations to provide breast health education.

Assisted the Race Chair with office tasks necessary to a successful Race for the Cure Event that draws 15,000 participants. Some responsibilities included:Database management, committee meeting attendance, soliciting bids and confirming suppliers as well as miscellaneous duties as needed. Assisted with all aspects of event, from management of team registrations and individual registrations to ordering of supplies, banners and other needed items. Primary contact for troubleshooting on line registrations.

Scheduled and instructed breast health programs within our community and hospital. Set up special events promoting breast health awareness and early detection. Worked closely with hospital staff members and community organizations to further breast health awareness opportunities through cooperative programs and outreach strategies.Attend community events as hospital representative.
