She called late morning, I showed her three houses that afternoon and thatevening, she and her husband submitted an offer that was accepted immediately.Popular wisdom says the most important element of real estate is location, location, location.Now it seems we need to add…timing, timing, timing.I was 23 when I bought my first house and a trusted person guided me through the process. Aclient who is 22 reminds me of my younger self. When she and I arrived to see a house, I knewthat neither it nor the neighbourhood was a good match. I was honest and suggested, “this oneisn’t for you”. She knew it immediately – but was hesitant to say. We left quickly to continue to find herbest new home.Having a ‘home’ is important. I never grew up living in a place our family owned. We lived inrented houses and apartments, and yet each felt like home.My mom bought her first house two years after I purchased, and now in her late 70’s, I helped hersell that home.
