Kim Straatemeier is an accomplished lighting specialist with a background in theatre and events lighting. He received his training at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in Sydney and has since worked on a wide range of world-class Theatre and Events both internationally and domestically.Kim began his architectural lighting design career with the design studio Firefly Point of View (FPOV) in Melbourne. There, he gained invaluable experience across a diverse range of projects, including high-end hospitality, commercial, and residential lighting. He also completed the Lighting Engineering and Design course at RMIT University, a program recognized by the Illuminating Engineering Society of Australia (IESANZ).With his technical expertise and industry experience, Kim has earned recognition as a technical member of the IES and an Associate of the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD). During his tenure at WSP Australia, he focused on large-scale hospitality, commercial, and infrastructure projects, collaborating closely with government bodies such as MTM, Development Victoria, the Level Rail Crossing Removal Authority, and various councils.Kim is now excited to join VAILO, an innovative and sustainable lighting manufacturing company, as their in-house Melbourne-based lighting designer. He is dedicated to supporting the company's global growth and promoting sustainable manufacturing in Australia.
