I am a strategy consultant, community and business servant leader in the metro area. I am a lifetime Girl Scout, a proponent of national service, Founder of Tapestry of Community Offerings 501(c)(3), and Past President of the Board of Directors for the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Meridian Society. I am also a very proud member of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary, and Optimist International. I love MUSIC AND THE ARTS! I've been playing music since I was a child. I find it to be a therapeutic endeavor, as well as a creative outlet for my love of composition! I also love musical theatre- a love passed from my father, to me, and now onto my children.I am the founder of nonprofit, Tapestry of Community Offerings. Since 2001, TOCO has been empowering children and families through green and community partnerships. Through that mission I served collaboratively to developed "Sponsorships in the Arts" programs in the community as well as overseeing development and execution of hundreds of workshops for children and adults of all ages focusing on music, the arts, and sciences as well as communications. I am a seasoned educator; with an insightful and creative approach to learning. I promote student engagement through classroom activities and collaborative assignments which encourage critical thinking. I am proficient across a spectrum of classroom specialties. I bring demonstrated success in business development, leadership, the arts, animal welfare, and civic engagement. I am a person of integrity with a combination of vision, strategic, and operational planning abilities who can serve as a role model of best management practices and effective decision-making. I have personally had a hand in the creation and coordination of all aspects of business including strategic planning, board and committee development, as well as the direction of programs and services toward a diverse mission. Kim Vrooman “sings “with dangerous abandon, jacking words like a thief.” Kim was named Best Female Vocalist in 2003 by the St. Louis Riverfront Times. The Open Mic she hosted in Soulard at the Shanti was voted Best Open Mic in St. Louis 2008. She is excited about playing live and inviting folks to listen. She has been performing since 6th grade on a variety of instruments including French horn, trumpet, and a bit of piano, but she feels most at home now with her Taylor acoustic and a new vocal melody. She has a comedy duo called East End Girls, and sings jazz standards from time to time with the Kimmy V Trio. She lives in Belleville, Illinois and some of her favorite musical artists are: Vitamen A, Rebecca Ryan, Blues Traveler, Wilco, My Morning Jacket, The Grateful Dead, Uncle Tupelo, Depeche Mode, Tears for Fears, Sarah Vaughan, Billie Holiday, Nina Simone,& Joan Armatrading. She also founded the not for profit corporation: Tapestry of Community Offerings with her husband Tony, and some close family friends and continues to play at their annual TOCO Family Festival for twenty years running!
