I edit the "Plates" section of the magazine, which covers food and drink in Texas. I edit/product one service feature a month in addition to occasionally writing stories. I also manage the fact-checking process, which includes building and interacting with a stable of fact-checkers. Other duties include managing interns, crafting social media posts.

Austin, Texas Area

I edit the front of book and the events section, write small pieces for Talk, Style and Dining sections, pitch ideas, contribute to larger feature stories, and write for the blog Austin Amplified. I hire and manage the editorial interns.

Greater Boston Area

At Boston magazine, I did research for developing articles for editors, fact-checked smaller pieces for the magazine, wrote blog posts for their daily food blog "Chowder," helped compile data and information, also I got to work with InDesign and art related tasks from time to time. As a Freelance Research Assistant, I did the fact-checking for the Fall.

As Managing Editor, I edited first, second, and third drafts of all the articles in the magazine. I also worked as treasurer for the magazine, and appealed for funding from our SGA for printing costs. I also did final edits once all of the articles were placed. Plus any other organizational tasks assigned by the editors-in-chief.

I served as Poetry Editor, where I helped come up with monthly themes, edited pieces with the authors, and wrote some of my own pieces for the site as well.

At Austin Monthly, I researched articles, fact-checked, researched and wrote event blurbs for the calendar section, wrote several articles for the magazine from style to feature pieces. When I left the internship, I freelanced two articles for the magazine for their January 2012 and May 2012 issues.

Checked emails and responded, updated files with stories and poems that were submitted, wrote blog posts, interviewed inspiring women and girl for articles on the blog, and co-wrote a column that appeared in the Fall 2010 issue. I was also part of the mentor program where I assisted three teen girls in the process of writing an article for the magazine.

At the Improper Bostonian, I researched, fact-checked, researched and wrote event blurbs for the calendar section in the back of the magazine.
