Project EstimatorMorrison Engineers Oct 2015 - Sep 2016Raleigh, NcNoticed & optimized inefficiencies of the project lifecycle process and built an application using MS Access, SQL, and VBA for an 80% efficiency boost. I automated the process for creating digital folders, assigning job numbers, reports, meeting agendas and e-mail reminders were all automated via the application. This streamlined the process and allowed team members to focus more on sending out bid proposals for jobs.Generated budget proposals by reviewing the project description and utilizing AutoCAD to develop plans, sections, and elevations for the work to be done. This was then used to assess resource allocation, schedule availability, and obtain vendor quotes. All information was then presented to the Principle Engineer for review and approval before being submitted. -
Applications Engineer IiAltec Feb 2014 - Oct 2015Creedmoor, NcMember of the Production Information Technology team dedicated to designing data analysis and management tools. Tools included tracking company metrics with integrated trend analysis, visual management displays via strategically placed TVs for live metric updates, and databases for tracking status of ongoing projects. Used MS Access, VBA, and SQL to build the aforementioned tools. These tools resulted in greater efficiency, simplified departmental processes and reduced waste. Many other departments have requested similar features in their own databases as well as personally training an associate on how to create such features for future improvements.Collaborated with several departments to produce a quality final product according to customer specifications. Designed and implemented custom built parts to meet those customer specifications. Provided root cause analysis and troubleshooting for issues on the production line.Continually sought ideas for departmental improvement projects. Upgrades resulted in nearly double efficiency. These improvements came from observing the daily routine and noting redundancy and waste in the process. -

Events focused on waste reduction, 5S, and quality improvements. Co-lead several events that successfully provided better one piece work flow, increased work capacity, and re-allocated wasted space to usable production space. Process for identifying improvements involves data analysis and observing production.Redesigned the shop floor layout to make room for new capital equipment while keeping in mind process flow. With limited available space and a busy shop floor, 4 new pieces of equipment had to be brought in while keeping a safe working environment.Developed fixtures to resolve quality issues and make a difficult weld process easier, which have enhanced production and reduced weld time. Used input from quality metrics and subject matter experts to come up with an idea for a fixture. Implemented fixtures and used feedback from associates to make design iteration changes for ease of use and improved functionality.Self-taught MS Access, SQL and VBA in order to develop the above tools and databases. Used these programs/ languages to design digital visual management boards. These boards contained metrics catered to various levels of management. Many of the graphs and charts involved data analysis and included trend tracking to alert managers of opportunities for improvement. -

Previously, routers were paper documents passed around the shop floor, sometimes they got lost or dirty. Using Microsoft Excel and integrating barcodes the shop went digital. Job routers were contained and tracked on the computer saving time and paper. Collaborated with a team on a video contest. The objective was to depict 'what quality means to GE'. It won an award for one of the best videos submitted.Provided financial analysis using reports of past sales information to give insights on trends and possible future sales.Used AutoCAD to update shop layout. It was also used to display important safety information by taking an audit of the existing map and comparing it to the floor. This helped determine what had changed and allowed for easier updates. -
Product EngineerTe Connectivity May 2011 - Aug 2011Winston-Salem, NcWorked with the automotive group and quality group on various projects to facilitate customer satisfaction. One such project included sound testing for vibration. A customer complained about a load humming noise coming from a contactor. Root cause analysis was performed to determine the source of the nosie, sound testing was used to get a control level, and potential solutions were tried one by one using sound testing to verify the effect. Several options were found to reduce noise ~10 DB.Created and implemented a fixture for Instron machine using 3D modeling programs. The machine was not functioning as pieces were used from several other Instron machines and were not compatible together. The fixture acted as a converter piece between the different pieces. A prototype was made using SpaceClaim and a CNC machine. Changes were made to make the piece more lightweight and easy to use and then implemented. -
