Serving in the Government Operations Division, I was responsible for representing the County in planning & zoning cases before local administrative bodies and in the courts, Critical Area administration and enforcement, special taxing district administration, and various other municipal matters.

Taught Fundamentals of Real Estate Law in a new online format to graduate students in Georgetown's Masters Degree program in Real Estate. The course provides an overview of property rights in general, entitlements, legal issues associated with financing real estate, and interaction with inside and outside counsel.

Representative projects:Secured a use variance to allow the renovation of the former Wormley Public School in historic Old Georgetown for multifamily residential use. Represented the District of Columbia Public Library in several development applications to replace or renovate multiple neighborhood libraries.Successfully argued against the grant of a special exception to allow a large hotel in the famed Dupont Circle Historic District that would have had significant impacts on the historic Tabard Inn and its signature garden.Successfully modified one of the District of Columbia’s earliest Planned Unit Developments to allow greater flexibility for a nonprofit owner in leasing existing retail spaces.A large part of my private practice also included advising clients throughout feasibility studies and providing zoning guidance in connection with commercial real estate acquisitions, resolving matters of title and survey in complex commercial real estate transactions, and negotiating construction management, underpinning, and development agreements.

I sustained the practice as an Associate and was promoted to Counsel in January 2013. Representative projects included:-Negotiating Section 106 Programmatic Agreement for adaptive re-use of the historic Old Post Office-Obtaining variance approvals required for significant rehabilitation and/or replacement of six District of Columbia Public Library locations throughout the City-Representation of various nonprofit organizations in acquisition and development of real estate projects in the District of Columbia -Multiple Planned Unit Development applications for complex mixed-use commercial/retail/residential projects-Successful representation of opposition groups, including The Tabard Inn's fight to protect its signature garden from a proposed 12 story hotel project
