If you live in Florida, chances are you’ve lived through a hurricane and lost power. Nothing is worse than sitting in a dark home with no television, no internet, and no air conditioning on a hot August day. That’s where I come in.With a knack for problem solving, I’ve applied my skills to my work at Florida Power & Light as a resource optimization coordinator scheduling jobs to enhance and expand the electric grid system throughout Florida. I manage several service regions, determining construction times with crew schedules and within environmental constraints to increase reliability.In four years at FPL, I continue to grow my knowledge in• Optimization; I manage the resources required to construct all FPL operations jobs in the North region in a timely manner.• Design; I designed 60+ distribution projects using Design Manager or AutoCAD to expand FPL systems increasing reliability for customers.• Communication; I work with managers and leads to track the status of all jobs in my assigned region.• Leadership; I lead three new hire group training sessions teaching how to use Design Manager, a software used to design distribution systems.FPL encourages leadership which makes me feel comfortable taking on new opportunities. I volunteer to lead training workshops, spearhead the compilation of resource guides for my group, and mentor peers on their projects. Moving forward, I plan to continue working towards FPL’s goal of a more resilient electric grid. I hope to gain experience in leadership and apply that to Project Management which is why I am currently pursuing an MBA. I’m always looking to expand my network with varying individuals.
