Mysore Paints and Varnish Limited (MPVL) is a government-owned company in India. Its organizational structure typically includes a Board of Directors at the top, overseeing the company's strategic direction and major decisions. Below the board, there are various departments such as production, marketing, finance, human resources, and research & development, each headed by a manager or director. These departments work together to ensure the smooth functioning of the company's operations, from manufacturing to sales and distribution. Additionally, there might be regional or branch offices depending on the company's scale and geographical presence.In summary, I was able to put the theoretical information I had learned throughout my first year of the MBA degree to use thanks to my four-week internship at Mysore Paints and Varnish Ltd. I was able to obtain insight into the complex workings of organizational operations by being exposed to a variety of departments, including marketing, manufacturing, materials, quality control, finance, and human resources. I gained direct knowledge of the production process, became knowledgeable about the many aspects of marketing, and realized the need of quality testing. In addition, my knowledge of business operations has been enhanced by my exposure to accounting procedures and legal requirements. I sincerely thank the top staff members and supervisors of the company for their steadfast support and direction, without which none of this would have been possible.

In this role, I played a critical part in managing the financial records, ensuring accuracy in sales and purchase entries using Tally ERP 9, an accounting software that streamlined the accounting process. My primary responsibility was assisting in auditing financial records, where I applied robust audit methodologies to ensure financial transparency and regulatory compliance.A key accomplishment was enhancing my financial analysis and reporting capabilities. I dove deep into financial models, understanding how data forecasting could be used to predict and improve financial outcomes. This experience gave me a hands-on understanding of corporate finance and auditing, which not only boosted my technical skills but also taught me how important it is to implement process improvements to increase efficiency.I collaborated with my team to refine accounting procedures, which resulted in more streamlined operations, saving both time and resources for the firm. This experience strengthened my teamwork skills and my ability to focus on accuracy and compliance, which are crucial in the finance world.
