The volume of computerized data used by organizations and individuals continues to grow exponentially. This data is relied upon more than ever before to drive and support strategic decisions. In many cases the data is sensitive in nature and must be protected to meet legal requirements, prevent identity theft, or safeguard business secrets. - Obtain, reconcile, research, and provide Medicaid claims data to the Attorney General of Georgia’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit to assist in their investigation and prosecution of fraud and abuse by Georgia Medicaid program providers. Provide testimony relative to such data as needed upon request.- Research, obtain, evaluate, and utilize commercial open-source business intelligence/analytics, data quality, and database tools frequently mentioned in Gartner Magic Quadrant research reports to profile, extract, transform, load, and analyze health care data associated with Georgia’s Medicaid program. Continuously seek to identify improved tools and techniques for gaining additional insight into healthcare data in the most efficient and effective manner possible.- Developed an in-house process to periodically convert geographic address information to latitude-longitude coordinates (i.e., “Geocoding”), map such coordinates to Google Maps, and analyze such information using freely obtainable open-source software. At the data volumes required, each geocoding process cycle would cost at least $40K if purchased from a geocoding service provider.- Provide information technology support and expertise to the Healthcare Audit Division’s auditors and nurses.

- Provided direct day-to-day oversight, management, and supervision of all IS audit staff involved in planning, designing, and executing general and application controls reviews as well as targeted security reviews (e.g., vulnerability and penetration tests) of computer information systems located throughout the State.- Conducted supervisory reviews of all staff working papers and prepared and disseminated all Division reports.- Developed and implemented an open-source electronic document management system for audit work papers based upon FISMA-NIST, GAO-FISCAM, and ISACA-COBIT frameworks.

- Conceptualized and established the Information Systems Audit & Assurance Services (ISAAS) Division.- Hired, managed and coordinated the Department’s IT audit staff (employees, in-house contractors, and third-party contractors) and IT audit efforts.- Designed and conducted an independent review of the State's Y2K readiness based upon U.S. Government Accountability Office framework which led to increased attention and efforts by State officials to achieve compliance.- Planned, designed, and executed general and application controls reviews of computer information systems located throughout the State.- Developed and implemented a process for conducting independent information systems security vulnerability assessments.
