I had the opportunity to work with the fantastic research team at Limeade for nine months while working on my PhD. It was my pleasure to work with them on creating POVs on topics such as corporate social responsibility and compensation, and to conduct analytics projects for major customers. Working at Limeade gave me the chance to experience how IO Psychology can be applied at scale through technology, and the importance of taking an ethical/humanist approach to scientific research and implementation.

I had the wonderful opportunity to teach the next generation of business leaders about critical thinking and ethical decision making through the use of technology, analytics & statistics, machine learning, and visualization. I was the instructor of record for Management Information Systems and Data Analytics & Visualization. We covered topics related to databases, CRM, project management software, and artificial intelligence and I taught students to use tools like Microsoft Access, Tableau, RapidMiner, and more.I am proud that my course evaluations placed me in the 90th-100th percentile for instructors (across 79,294 other course evaluations) and that I received the "gold standard" in overall student ratings.I didn't want my classes to just be about students learning to use the modern technology they'll encounter in their upcoming careers (though, that was definitely a part of it). Instead, I tried to use those lessons to teach a broader set of skills: Thinking critically about where data comes from, developing a habit of looking for opportunities in the technology around you, applying ethical frameworks to new capabilities, and communicating insights to a data-illiterate audience.

For the 2019-2020 academic year I had the wonderfully edifying opportunity to assist my professors and coach junior PhD students on their journey through the crazy world of statistics and research methods. I graded assignments, facilitated small group discussions, developed training guides and visual organizers, and tutored students who needed more examples and time to grasp the concepts. I lead a fantastic student team to develop and publish a podcast about organizational effectiveness.We combine rigorous research with real-life applicability by splitting each episode into two halves. The first half is a brief literature review of an important management topic such as interviewing and hiring practices, performance management, and leadership development, among others. My five years at Emmanuel were fundamental in developing my own leadership and managerial identity. I learned the value of humility, that personal relationships are critical to leading change, and how conflict can be used to strengthen, align, and accelerate a team. I was gifted the experience of intense internal conflicts, financial crises, and legal challenges while first working as a volunteer in 2010, as an intern until 2012, and eventually filling the senior staff position until 2015. Despite these obstacles my team and I are proud to claim success as we led what most saw as a "dead congregation" to a financial comeback that ensures future opportunity, and positioned the church to accomplish it's long-term mission. I was responsible for leading staff in carrying out daily church activities, organizing $16million in church assets and finances, developing a community coffee shop, and managing a 50,000+ SqFt facility with multiple commercial leases. Personally, I am most proud of developing a co-operative shelter with Seattle's Union Gospel Mission to shelter, serve, and strengthen a local population of homeless men. I'm honored to have played a small role in the lives of 15+ men who live healthy, sustainable lives and are no longer homeless.

From 2008 - 2014 I served in a variety of roles with Bravo Company, a unit within the 4th Tank Battalion. Originally trained as a Small Arms Repair Technician (MOS 2111), I participated in additional training to deploy as a Mechanized Infantry unit. In Iraq, my primary role was to drive Humvees, Mine-Resistant Ambush-Protected combat vehicles, and the "7-Ton" logistics cargo vehicles. Our typical missions were to provide ground and convoy security for logistics, civil affairs, and other functions around the region.Back in the states, I received a few promotions and became responsible for a squad amalgamated from several roles: Cooking, administration, armory, supply, and embarkation. Leading this squad was the highlight of my Marine Corps career, and I felt most successful when I was able to coach and train junior Marines.

What started as my High School Senior Project grew to a full-time leadership position during my time in the USMC Reserves and attending college at Seattle Pacific University. I had the marvelous experience to grow a client base; hire, train, and develop employees; create marketing and sales strategies; and personally grow as a leader.
