• Managed trials comparing established side-scan sonar to novel ground-penetrating radar (GPR) for searches in water. Effectively organised work of academics, search practitioners and representatives from the National.
• Utilised exposure to subject experts to broaden knowledge outside of electronics, including mechanical engineering, ergonomics, forensics, health and safety, data processing, machining, and trials management.

• Helped geological teams to survey isolated mountainous areas in Kyrgyzstan, spending one month living in a geological camp performing glacial measurements.
• Quickly adapted to living and working with unfamiliar people in an unconventional environment.
• Took on esoteric geological concepts in both English and Russian.
• Assisted in translating resulting scientific articles from Russian to English.
