The Student Recreation Center Director is responsible for creating a diverse and inclusive environment that supports a healthy and active lifestyle for the RRCC community. The position oversees all facets of operating the facility including program development, operating policies, procedure development, budget management, staff training and supervision. The Director develops and sustains positive working relationships with all campus divisions while encouraging and supporting collaborative activities and events.The Director oversees two full-time staff members.

Phoenix, Arizona Area

The Program Coordinator works closely with the Director to assist with day-to-day operations of the Sun Devil Fitness Complex and has direct responsibilities for various Sun Devil Fitness programs at the Downtown Phoenix campusDuties include but are not limited to: Within a team approach, coordinate operational elements of the Sun Devil Fitness Complex; coordinate activities and functions of intramurals, aquatics, fitness, team challenge and/or other relevant programs; hire, train and supervise intramural staff, facility supervisors, lifeguards and/or safety education instructors. Monitor activities of assigned student staff and time recording; provide leadership training and staff development opportunities through workshops and seminars; enforce rules and regulations specific to recreational programs and facilities to ensure safety; assist with CPR, First Aid and AED training for staff; oversee the scheduling of programs and services for use by campus and community organizations; represent Sun Devil Fitness on various department and university committees; assist with budget development and effectively manage allocated resources; evaluate and assess effectiveness of programs, services and facility offerings; participate in outreach efforts promoting ASU traditions and institutional pride within Sun Devil Fitness as well as within the ASU Community.

Normal, Illinois

• Perform daily inspections and review facility reports to ascertain deficiencies. Handle deficiencies appropriately through Assistant Director-Facilities or through contact with University agencies• Submit work orders for minor repairs, track completion, and follow up if necessary • Conduct weekly risk management assessments in all areas and correct any minor mishaps • Execute all personnel management functions for a team of over 125 students including Facility Managers, Member Service Associates, Recreation Assistants, Lifeguards, and other facility personnel• Implement all training functions in key competencies including, but not limited to: risk management, customer service, emergency response, special even set up/tear down and membership/rental processes• Provide supervision for additional temporary staffing such as interns or other student volunteers• Coordinate with campus organizations to ensure all facilities are safe, clean and operational for events scheduled in the facility• Manage inventory of lockers including assignment, renewals, revenue reconciliation and customer service• Maintain all statistics for entrance counts, hourly participation records and facility supervision reports. Make periodic reports to Executive Director and other individuals as requested• Serve as Project Manager for the installation of a $40,000 bouldering cave installation • Collaborate with the Illinois State Sustainability Council and Campus Housing to re-introduce the Reggie Ride Bike Share program

The Graduate Assistant of Facilities assists in the hiring, training, and evaluation of the student facilities (Rec Assistants) team; generates schedules and monitor all aspects of the Rec Assistants, implement and maintain policies, procedures, including risk management and customer service. The Graduate Assistant is responsible for the development of training materials, manuals and other training instruments in conjunction with the Assistant Director-Facilities. Other duties include assisting in the administration of the daily facility operations; these duties include, but are not limited to, set ups for special events, supervising special events, maintaining records and reports, maintaining storage rooms, performing maintenance, cleaning, and repair work, and maintaining supply and equipment inventories. The Graduate Assistant provides facility supervisory coverage in the absence of the full-time and student staff during periods of critical shortages such as university breaks; work in cooperation with other Campus Recreation team members and assist with department events as needed. Serve as an instructor of First Aid/CPR/AED/BBP for student team training; and work supervisor and lifeguard shifts as needed. The Graduate Assistant schedule will be based on program needs, and may include nights and weekends.
