Since that time we have removed hundreds of oil tanks and associated contaminated soil to restore the property's value and bring the property into compliance with both State and Federal regulations. Because most homes built before 1975 were originally heated with oil and because over 90% of these tanks have leaked, this concern applies to tens of thousands of properties throughout southeastern North Carolina. Because I was a staff geologist for North Carolina’s Underground Storage Tank Section for over 14 years prior to starting PES, I know both the regulations and the on-site project logistics very well. I personally supervise (and usually excavate) each project.
