Senior Systems EngineerReed Elsevier Feb 2013 - Feb 2020Miamisburg, OhioAfter working with the folks at Reed Elsevier for the last 7 months as a contractor, they have now brought me into their SAN Storage team as a full time employee. It is a great place to work and my SAN experiences from the past apply very closely to their environment. -
San Storage ConsultantCincinnati Bell Technology Solutions Jul 2012 - Feb 2013Norwood, OhioI work for CBTS in their consultancy practice. They have clients that utilize my skills in SAN storage technologies. I am currently assigned to a client in Miamisburg, Ohio and am helping them to begin using IBM SVC technology within their enterprise. -
Senior Platform SpecialistPnc Jan 2009 - May 2012Dayton, Ohio AreaIn 2010 through 2012, I was responsible for helping to configure and implement a large storage migration from IBM SVC to EMC VMAX. This included setting up storage at a DR site using EMC's SRDF/A product as well as EMC Time Finder / Clone. This is the same position as listed below for National City Bank. PNC bought National City in late 2008. I continue to manage the same SAN fabric at PNC as I did at NCC prior to 2009. I have worked here continuously since July of 2004.I am a SAN administrator of a fabric with over 3 PetaBytes of capacity. A large majority of this is virtualized behind several IBM model 2145 SVC clusters. Storage platforms currently managed include IBM DS4700, EMC CX240, Hitachi, IBM DS8000, and HP EVA.I also have a lot of experience working with retired older IBM Shark and DSS storage platforms, Hitachi 9980, and Hitachi 9570. We had to migrate all of our data that resided on these platforms and move it to primarily SVC-based storage. -

Solaris & San AdministratorRelizon (Now Workflowone) Sep 2000 - Jul 2004I was a Senior Solaris Administrator for The Relizon Company. In this role I also provided guidance to business planners in the company to help them plan for growth, new application support, and replacing less cost-effective and obsolete equipment. On the Solaris platform we extensively used Veritas Volume Manager and Cluster Manager products to maintain the disks and the server cluster operations. On Windows servers we used the EMC products to manage the disks.I also managed and grew their SAN which began as a single direct-connected EMC Symmetrix array and then migrated onto multiple EMC CLARiiON units on a fabric.

Lead Systems Engineer - PortingSdrc May 1996 - Sep 2000At SDRC I managed a large network of machines that they used to compile and test iterations of their premiere software product, I-deas. This software was a top CAD/CAM/CAE product that was very demanding of the machines (desktop and servers) and the storage that they needed to perform these tasks. There were approximately 50 machines in my network for each supported platform including Windows, Silicon Graphics Irix, HP-UX, Solaris, and Digital UNIX. I supervised a group of administrators that performed the major upgrades and hardware activities that were scheduled as I-deas development required.I also was the primary interface between the Product Development organization that used these machines daily, and the Computer Resources people who installed and maintained them. I also had a responsibility to provide an up-to-date website that Product Development used to locate candidate machines that they would use for version specific development as well as for software support for older vesrions.

Software Systems EngineerEds May 1986 - May 1996Dayton, Ohio AreaAt EDS I worked with a team of people that performed system management on servers and workstations that were used exclusively for CAD/CAM/CAE engineering analysis. These were in use by General Motors customers at various GM divisions that were operating in the Dayton Ohio area.I worked with VAX/VMS servers initially and then evolved into managing UNIX machines, mostly HP-UX based. I also worked with the Apollo and SUN workstations as well because all of these platforms had their niche applications in the engineering departments at the GM customer sites.I also worked as an SSE Supervisor for two and a half years with a group of approximately 10 people who supported CAD/CAM as well as other business areas in GM.
