Since 1921, AFB has been a leader in expanding possibilities for the over 32 million Americans living with vision loss. A national nonprofit, we champion access and equality, and stand at the forefront of new technologies and evidence-based advocacy. We address the most pressing needs of people with vision loss and their families, breaking down societal barriers and promoting broad systemic change.Full operational direction and oversight of all strategic and operational initiatives, with employees in NY, FL, IL, KY, VA, OH, WA, WV & TX, and direct leadership of divisional directors, their staff (40 EE), contractors and consultants. Focused on the continued operations and impactful nation-wide systems change. Highlights of Accomplishments include, but not limited to:- Moved from the Board of Director to CEO role during significant financial decline. Moving revenue deficit in May 2016 to surplus (2021) – first surplus in a decade. - Program Design - Initiated Apprenticeship program, addressing the fact that 7 out of 10 blind people are not employed and out of 630,000 apprenticeship, 0% blind. Designed an intervention partnership with national programs focused on DEI and ensuring AFB entered that conversation. Identified hiring leaders in the space and successfully designed inclusive programs. - Secured Additional Corporate Donors – Amazon, Microsoft, JP Morgan Chase, Google, Facebook, Netflix, Comcast, Charter Communications, AT&T, and more. - Blind Leaders Development Program - 2nd year in action. Focused on increasing Blind Leadership within organizations. Currently 36 blind leaders have been matched with a successful blind mentor (1 year program) to propel their career. 2nd year participants will be flown into D.C. for 4 day intensive. - Responded to economic factors and to be a more nimble organization, assessed the true organizational needs and implemented successful facility and organization restructure initiatives.

A vibrant social enterprise, continuously operating since 1918. Currently employing over 220 people who are blind, Deaf-Blind and blind with other disabilities, the Lighthouse serves aerospace, military and other federal customers with products manufactured in Seattle and Spokane, as well as base supply centers for the Navy, Army and Air Force.Full operational direction and oversight of all strategic and operational initiatives: Highlights of Accomplishments include, but not limited to:- 15 annual visits to all Washington State Congressional offices to educate Congress about the federal AbilityOne program, the largest single employer of people with disabilities in the United States.- Qualified the organization as suppliers for Boeing Defense and Northrup Grumman. - Opened 5 military base supply centers (mission related items) in CA and NV (Navy & Army & Air Force), an additional $MM annual program thru the “Ability One” Federal program. - Expanded physical locations from 3 to 13, including retrofitting a manufacturing plant in Spokane, WA, creating jobs for blind individuals focused on producing whiteboards and cork bulletin boards for the federal government ($M monthly revenue).- Obtained $$ through the federal transportation budget to provide safe travel training for Seattle area Deafblind citizens using the new light rail system. - Opened 2 contract management offices in San Diego for the Navy and Defense Contract Management Agency, with blind individuals closing contracts for supply chain purposes.- Purchased a small aerospace plant (28000 sq. ft.) Summerville, SC employing blind individuals in Boeing 787 supply chain, and achieved AS9100 certification, the ISO standard for the aerospace industry.- Increased employment of people who are blind and DeafBlind from 150 to 240, and increased wages for blind and DeafBlind employees by 40%.- GENERAL MANAGER OF ADMINISTRATION (2005 to 2008)- CFRE & DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR (2000 to 2005)

Mission: Provide and advocate for affordable quality childcare that enriches and nurtures all children, supporting their success in school and in life. Vision: All children have access to quality care and education. No family is turned away due to inability to pay. Focused on fundraising initiatives, in order to meet organization’s financial goals, forecasting future income and gathering feedback from donors. Worked closely with public relations professionals to attract attention from potential supporters and host events that raise awareness of Evergreen’s goals. Led efforts in Board development and mentoring, community partnerships/relations and public policy initiatives. Collaborated across the organization to create fundraising programs and connect with community to build additional opportunities. Planned and implemented first two successful fundraising auctions, resulting in $500K+.

Serving, with Northwest Lions Clubs, as an innovative provider of sight and hearing care with a passion for quality and excellence. To be a leader, recognized for innovative sight and hearing service creating humanitarian benefit. Created and implemented a resource development plan to gather support for the organization's programs. Constituents included all Lions Clubs in the district, individual Lions, foundations, corporations, and other community based organizations. Highlights include, but not limited:- Ran a successful fundraising campaign for purchase and operation of a Mobile Health Screening Unit, providing diabetes and vision screening for underserved populations throughout Washington State and Northern Idaho.

Provides funding for additional resources, programs and services that take our library system to a new level of excellence.Planning and implementing comprehensive resource development program for the Washington Talking Book and Braille Library. Led grant writing efforts, annual fundraising/major gifts, and planned/implemented tele-funding programs. Highlights include, but not limited to:- Planned and managed the Washington Talking Book and Braille Library’s (WTBBL) first three annual tele-funding campaigns, including sourcing, hiring and training blind individuals to call 12,000 library patrons statewide to solicit financial support.- Started WTBBL’s first designated endowment fund at the Seattle Foundation. - Designed and implemented ongoing promotion of bequests and charitable gift annuities.
