Currently employing over 220 people who are blind, Deaf-Blind and blind with other disabilities, the Lighthouse serves aerospace, military and other federal customers with products manufactured in Seattle and Spokane, as well as base supply centers for the Navy, Army and Air Force.Full operational direction and oversight of all strategic and operational initiatives: Highlights of Accomplishments include, but not limited to:- 15 annual visits to all Washington State Congressional offices to educate Congress about the federal AbilityOne program, the largest single employer of people with disabilities in the United States.- Qualified the organization as suppliers for Boeing Defense and Northrup Grumman. - Opened 5 military base supply centers (mission related items) in CA and NV (Navy & Army & Air Force), an additional $MM annual program thru the “Ability One” Federal program. - Expanded physical locations from 3 to 13, including retrofitting a manufacturing plant in Spokane, WA, creating jobs for blind individuals focused on producing whiteboards and cork bulletin boards for the federal government ($M monthly revenue).- Obtained $$ through the federal transportation budget to provide safe travel training for Seattle area Deafblind citizens using the new light rail system. - Opened 2 contract management offices in San Diego for the Navy and Defense Contract Management Agency, with blind individuals closing contracts for supply chain purposes.- Purchased a small aerospace plant (28000 sq. ft.)
