Kirk Huffman played his first paid show at 12 years old, signed his first record contract the day he graduated high school, toured 300+ days of the year for a half a decade as a member of prog-post-punk band Gatsbys American Dream, self released and licensed 2 LP’s of grandiose psychedelic pop and performed on NBC’s “Late Night with Carson Daly” as frontman for Kay Kay & His Weathered Underground and has toured and performed in every lower 48th state of the US as well as at the Bumbershoot, Sasquatch, Summer Meltdown, Bamboozled, Warped, SXSW and Halifax Pop Explosion music festivals with his collective projects which also include the freak rock of Wild Orchid Children and his current endeavor, the soulful chill-wave and trip hop sounds of Real Don Music. In 2008, Kirk Huffman, Phillip Peterson and Paul Kolderie collectively produced “Censored Colors” by Portugal. The Man which was hailed by Alternative Press as a Top 10 Record of 2008. Huffman has also spent time working with Pulse Publishing songwriters Mighty Mike and Nico Stadi and has had his music licensed to EA Sports, NBC’s “Parenthood” and CBS’s “NCIS: New Orleans”.
