Currently based in Sydney, Kirk is a Canadian architect who's spent an illustrious career bouncing between Toronto, London, Tokyo, New York and Sydney. He's honed his craft over three decades, delivering projects in all corners of the globe (Hong Kong, London, Paris, Moscow, Dubai, Vancouver, etc) creating elegant and detailed environments for discerning retail, hospitality and residential clients.Since founding LDA in Sydney in 2006, and opening the NYC studio shortly thereafter, Kirk has had the pleasure of designing for many of the Australia's best known retail brands such as Oroton, Cue, Marcs, Strandbags, and Rebel Sport, as well as international brands such as MAC, Chantecaille, Elie Tahari, Miu Miu, Toto, Vodafone and Simone Perele. At the same time, he's enjoyed working with smaller boutique brands and individuals to design unique projects with every bit as much attention and care.Prior to starting LDA, Kirk was Design Leader at Geyer, Australia's largest Interior Design firm, and before that, Senior Associate at the highly regarded design offices of Tobias Theodore and DEM, one of Australia's largest Architectural firms. A love for retail design started early in his career, working in NYC with celebrated luxury architect Peter Marino, on projects for prestigious luxury brands such as Louis Vuitton, Guerlain, Chanel, and Fred Joaillier. Throughout his career Kirk has built a reputation as a person who can be trusted to deliver projects fast, efficiently and to the highest of standards - with many clients remaining loyal for decades.A passionate approach to design, attention to detail, and a unique talent for quickly distilling core ideas, are the foundation for a design firm where creativity flourishes and enduring client relationships are forged. Kirk says his greatest joy comes from creating highly resolved environments that stimulate a sense of delight, whilst seamlessly integrating with the customer experience and capturing the unique personality of the brand or client. Developing a design language and understanding a client's "tone of voice" is the key to designing successful projects whether they be retail, hospitality or a bespoke family home.
