I am a current student at the University of Texas in Austin, working towards a B.A. in Urban Studies and preparing for Architecture graduate school. I get most excited by the idea of design impacts. When we create something, what does that effect in six hours, six months, six years, and sixty years.When I started my education journey, I started as a Psychology B. A. and Government B. A. double major. After taking many classes and narrowing down my interests, I have found that learning about human behaviors and needs was my primary interest and that can be distilled into a design and human factors focused career. Architecture is a field in which math, art, and human factors intersect. It is a long lasting and important field that I find to be very powerful. In both a direct and inadvertent way, architecture changes our behaviors. Behaviors in how we commute, treat others, spend our energy on work, and so much more.The classes I have taken that have helped communicate my passions and refine them have been:Water in Cities (Architecture and Urban Planning)The Human Experience (Social Work)Design Thinking in User Experience (UX UI and Communications)The Healthy, Livable City (Urban Studies)I have had the opportunity to collaborate and design alongside very impressive individuals and have been able to really jump into the deep end and evaluate how to create something meaningful and efficient, and communicate it in an effective way. I still have so much to learn but I am confident that what I am learning and working on is something that is timeless and important for our human experience and the earth as a whole.
